I believe it comes down to meeting the needs with equipment resources. There are people who run proto who have no idea how to run it and people who absolutely abuse it to death.
That being said, I very rarely run my proto gear at all. Too many good players in basic and adv fits with proper skill placement can wipe proto out very quickly. I figured out a few tricks to suit fitting and rock my blueprint fits and standard gear.
If a full squad of full proto takes the field and your guys don't have the resources to meet the need, grab your free or cheap gear and sniper fits and cost them money. Unfortunately this is the game we are faced with right now and some just need to fuel thier ego or kd ratio, that's fine, they can play however they want to make themselves feel good. It's what the rest on the receiving end do to smartly combat this. Remember, take those who protostomp and put them in basic gear, 90% of the time the player who runs standard all the time will win, being familliar with your fit and not relying on it will win out in the end.

I'm always using the Scout mk.0.
Dont think I'd consider it Protostomping. Since the only benefit I get over most MLT suits is an increased strafe speed, with similar/slightly more HP.

I don't understand why killing a Proto suit in adv/std gear is worth something. If you're using an ar or scrambler you don't need a Proto suit to kill other players in pubs.
In previous build My friend, on an alt with no sp allocated, 17/3 against protos relying on strafing.
In this build, where you can point at anything and kill it in2 seconds irregardless of what tier of weapon you are using, it's not impressive to kill protos.. Also most of you have your passives leveled. Circle jerks like this are so sad.

Depends on how i feel. sometimes i'll run my full proto and others i'll run anything right down to my recruiter bpos and right back up to proto with my krin. each game is diff. i don't waste suits for the sake of it. |

The last two weeks I've been running bpo militia everything and a basic scrambler to test this "omg either you have proto or u are doomed" crap and i same results as me in my proto cko I can still take on two enemyes and walk away alive. AND I'M MAKING MILLIONS A DAY. Lol

I've waited a long time to get a proto suit, and now that I have one its even more glaringly obvious how much of a crutch it is. I find people who proto stomp generally believe that they are better players. Those same guys get their ass kicked when fighting other proto in a pc, where everybody is fighting to death with the best they possibly have.
These guys 20-2 in the pubs then going 5-12 in a PC.
The real good players that I respect in dust are the ones who get great scores fighting for a PC district, when its all or nothing, and everybody is on the same level of gear.
Basically its all about character, and people who proto pubstomp have none. Running weapons that does 3x damage of the average suit with 3x hp than the average suit and then saying when you run a high score killing the average suit thats ''its all about skill?''
Nope, getting proto gear is all about how much aurum you spend, or SP you can either grind or buy with active boosters.
You have the right to run whatever suit you want in pubs, i support you in this aspect of the game. You'll just never have my respect, no matter what score you have on the kill boards.

"Protostomp" is a relative term.
Being on a coordinated team using comms against a team not using comms is a much bigger advantage in my opinion.
If I'm running with my corp on comms we can do very well. Not all of us use full proto gear or we vary the tiers of gear during each match. Coordinated actions on comms are a huge advantage when combined with good tactics, fully maxed skill-trees and complementary weapon/suit/vehicle selections.
Is this protostomping?
Is it protostomping when you use proto weapons or equipment with advanced tier suits? It saves money and can be nearly as effective.
We can agree that full proto everything all the time with coordinated teams on comms is protostomping but there are degrees of protostomping.

I don't because it seems like I die 100x faster than I do in ADV/BPO/STD gear. It is always stupid **** too, crushed by LAV dropped from a Bolas, sniped 2 seconds after spawning etc..
I never seem to notice it as much when I am in non-PRO suits....

I do not. About half a mil away form my proto cal assault suit. I ran duvolles for the last event, but just what i had in inventory. Yeah, when i get my suit i plan on rocking it for a week or so to work out the best fitting for me. After that, back to starter fits so i have a nice wallet for when the player market opens.
I don't fault anyone for running proto in pubs. Once you except it as part of dust life, you stop feeling bad about being out gunned and relish when you take one (or five) with basic gear. Thats rewarding! |

Only proto equipment I ever use is a viziam pistol on occasion when im tired of dying in 3 hits. Sometimes you want to return the favor. That being said the majority of my fits contain only adv level gear.

It is a word, its part of the american lexicon, its a blend/short of "irrespective and regardless", so in essence its 3 words in one more so than to be taken as word parts. Obviously its informal and thus spoken and not written in graded papers to say the least. But that is no different than common language which is spoken in the cities, where a lot of formalities are dropped and slang in its place, even internet speech itself is full inf informal and nonsensical slogans that doesn't fit squarely into proper English.

Reason - I want to save up money, I wasnt that involved in PC (so I dont sit on all that free cash many have) due to the huge amount of lag and disconnects I get and I really like the advanced stuff the heavy class got.

I run proto all the time. The main concern is profitability which is easy enough if we're all running with nanite injectors. I'm not involved in PC because I have a small corp, but I've seen plenty all-proto teams, and those are always good fights.

I do protostomp.
Reason - I worked my ass off to get the skills to obtain my proto weapons, suits, and modules so I'm sure as hell going to use them. I also used BPO's frequently in order to accrue enough ISK to run my proto loadouts.
Not a logical reason to.. but all of you that do can happily burn in the hottest flames of hell!

I do not protostome. I have proto suits but I will only use them when the match gets serious and the squad needs the proto logi to stay alive, but I usually save the isk for my Python and Pc Matches
