If they're any good, they'd know how to avoid threats like vehicles and deal with em. AV nades, supply depots to switch to swarms / forges etc. it's all there. they have it easy, my friend.

I'm skilled into officer forge, that Gatsuns just overkill. People will cry that they can't solo tanks, maybe dropships, and you know what buddy? it's the way it should be. It's supposed to be a team effort to take down a decent vehicle user, which is why they spent so much more SP than the standard assault player. Get in a squad and if a tank shows up or a decent pilot, talk to your teammates and take it out.

We discussed this at length. They wont agree that HAV, dropships require team work to use based to 1-2 matches where tankers were able to solo a good match, and determine we don't need teamwork and should not be allowed to use it, but are OP for not having tom require team work.....and then find it positively okay when solo infantry players run solo and do exceptionally well.
Did any one cry "NERF OP" when ReGnYum, the god that he is, solo's entire teams?

I solo tanks all the time. All you have to do is wait till there reps are done. Figure that out and I'll fill you in on a few more secrets |

Sure. I could agree to that. It's not unreasonable. And yes, I use the Forge Gun. I like the DAU, but that's pretty much as far as I am in that skill tree.
My SP is spread out though (to Commando, a repper and some light weapons and vehicle core skills). It's not like I just made a guy and put all of the SP into Forge Guns.

i agree, but by following a different line of reasoning. Why should a 300 k rail turret powered by a tank do less damage than a 15 k infantry cannon? We'll see how 1.7 changes in the forge vs vehicles debate, but the way i think about, power output of weapons should be relative to the power input. I know its fictional, but if i were a weapons designer in New Eden, why would i put a rail turret on my tank instead of several much cheaper, way more powerful, much lighter, forge cannon?
I'd stick at least five of em on it. maybe six. Imagine that.A giant 6 barrel rotating HMG type cannon shooting forge rounds at 750 RPM

The FG is actually one of the best weapons in the game, in the right hands.
I'm going to make a judgement call and say that you've never really used the FG extensively, or you wouldn't be posting this.
I'm more upset about AI Turrets that can track 100mph LAVs or shott rail charges endlessly than some guy with a FG who got a shot that was 75% luck off on me.
If you reduce the FG damage by 300-500, the base MLT FG will still do 800-1000 damage plus an armor bonus. So a nerf wouldn't really do anything. Besides, they already nerfed the hit on it. |

on team red there is 2 tanks and 14 soldiers.
on team blue there is 6 AV and 10 soldiers.
Team red win because their tanks count as 6 soldiers, and team blue AV can't kill team red soldiers because their AV.
The only way around it is make AV a secondarily weapon. Also level design isn't suited for infantry because tanks have to much access to the maps.

The Forge Gun's damage will remain the same. That's the bottom line. It's working as intended up to the advanced tier. It's that one prototype Forge Gun that is overperforming and we all know which one that is.

The "nerf" is needed to bring it in line with the vehicle updates.
I wouldn't call it "nerf", but rebalance.

i thought about this once because of how much of a hurt an FG can put on a vehicle, but to make it do less damage to a vehicle but still 1000s to a person really throws the loop for mechanics. |

Of course there is. Yet the cannon and other heavy weapons on a real life tank are proportionally much more powerful than what one solo infantry man can carry. Since we are comparing tank cannons to infantry cannons, I have yet to see the 125 mm cannon that's hand operated...well since Forges are twice as powerful, i mean the 250 mm round firing cannon designing for single soldiers to operate. Alone. Walking around, sometimes even sprinting. With a full clip of 250 mm shells.

You've got it back to front, a tank shouldn't be able to solo infantry.
You want a team effort to take out a tank? it should be a team effort to operate one. Fair balance would require the same numbers for the vehicle team and the anti-vehicle team.

This has been talked to death about on the forums, at most AV teamwork should be1-2 per tank, due to the mechanics anything else would be game breaking. Now if you tell me you want to drastically drop all main turret DPS to make a tank support, as it should be, that would be ok.
The real problem is dropships, there is a very limited window to knock them out before they reach their destination and start dropping roof uplinks, once that happens blueberries on your team don't stand a chance. It really requires one good miss from me for the DS to have enough time to touch down and operators/passengers to bail.
You increase TTK on dropships (as swarms have already been nerfed in range) by dropping FG damage, you drastically alter the game to which team has the most DSs wins.

I'm equally sure that this extremely high-powered weapon cannot be fired with pinpoint precision when hip-firing, when even an assault rifle which is a pea shooter in comparison has projectile dispersion.
So add dispersion and a margin of error within the crosshairs, and speaking for the dropship pilots, I'm happy for the forge gun (yes even the douchey Ishukone assault) to keep its damage.
