DUST Search - why do players skill into FOTMs?

Because they want to win and will use anything that gives them an advantage .. sadly CCP can;t balance things and keep ending up making things OP and therefore creating new FoTM's .. if they could balance things in a rock paper scissors way then the game would be fine but they just don;t have the ability to do something like that

I specced into Gallogi right at the start of Uprising, well before the armour buff. I specced into SCRs because they were new and rifles were familiar to me. I also used the Duvolle because I'd used it all through Chromosome, so I was used to it. Neither of those was FotM then. They are now. I'm using what I'm used to, what I've used for months, and even if I cared about being labelled an FotM chaser there's nothing I can do about it because it takes so long to spec into anything else. I mainly use a min scout with shotty, but if I'm feeling lazy I'll use duvolle with 3 cx dmg mods, I specced into duvolle when I first started playing dust, and it comes in handy when the whole other team is using it and I die in .5 seconds in my maxed out advanced scout, wich gets approximately the base HP of a caldari assault with nothing on it... The best defense in not a good offense, it's a good defense.

Its the same reason people use any cheap/exploit/etc, to boost their ego, have fun, raise kdr, and abuse others while doing it. Its no different than a 3 man kdr machine that we see too. (1 reviver, 1 shooter, 1 sacrificial alt) Edit: Also I doubt 60% of the player base was "interested" in flaylocks until they were found to be abusive, again its all about the path of least resistance and lowest skill required. Arkena, you have proto Amarr Assault and Proto Gal Assault. Your argument is invalid. Shield regeneration bonus for Gallente Assault is about as useful as Sharpshooter for Nova Knives.

Edit: (ok, there has been a bit of a misunderstanding) the players that were skilled into the current fotm before it became one should not feel included in my rant, I was adressing this post at players who skilled into it because they knew it is the current FOTM Coming from someone who has considered using FOTM, it's because I want to get some leverage. Like. I didn't get the scanner(I was gonna grab it way later) until EVERYONE and their mommas started using them. We needed leverage so I sacrificed for some leverage. At the end of the day tho, I don't really care. I skill into what makes me better at my Support Assault role.
