the community seems seriously outraged by the bpo theft and respec debacle.
now that we all know ccp are dishonest and have no plan to fix this broken game.
and the only people defending them are ccp alts,

Dust is alive and kicking, but the kind of alive where you just sustained multiple gunshot wounds or got hit by a truck and your body is flailing around in shock. It can be saved, but first CCP needs to decide what kind of shooter they are making. The current version is not my taste, but after drastic changes to gameplay over my 4 months with the game, I would be happy with CCP sticking to a model so I can once and for all decide whether I want to stick around. The BPO thing sucks, and I could care less about respecs. My main concern is the twitch shooter feel Dust currently has. Hard to justify grinding for over a year to die in .3 seconds to anyone of any level. |

I defended dust against people who made the very same kind of thread I made, trolled them, laughed at them, asked "can I has isk"
then they banned my main for voicing my concerns about taking my bpo's and that was the last straw... and believe me I started out with lots of straws....

you speculate on the eve corps caring about dust....it could also make eve players quit if done wrong...
deep customization is nice, but what exactly does customization matter if theres no meat to the game play to execute that customization?

Despite all the doomsday rhetoric dust has had surprisingly high numbers this week and last, hovering right around 4000 players at any given time, despite the release of the PS4. I wouldn't say dust is dying by a long shot; it's just that time of the month when the sheen of the new update has died down and the next one is too far off to be excited about.

would you be ok with their removal for aur.... say the Templar gear or the lav?

because we supported ccp by buying this crap and they swindle us.
because they take us for suckers.

is it a sin to love dust? no sin. only folly. I too was once like you. I spent about 500$ on dust, have an eve accunt, bought the collectors addition. I defended dust against people who made the very same kind of thread I made, trolled them, laughed at them, asked "can I has isk" then they banned my main for voicing my concerns about taking my bpo's and that was the last straw... and believe me I started out with lots of straws.... all they do is alienate their fans I wouldn't go falsely claiming getting banned or misrepresenting why you got banned... and no most likely you were not banned over your bpo concerns at all rather the means of messaging itself. You can see dozens of other bpo threads some other irate and poor messaging and even heated, and yet here not these persons keep posting still. lol I literally got banned for voicing my concern... and civily to boot... I wont go into specifics because I don't think I can, and im not ready to have my i.p. perma banned yet... Please don't post the details, just petition the banning if you can, GMs can get over zealous at times but they're not helpful you can ask for an escalation.
I submitted a ticket about 30 hours ago... no reply yet.... I tried to mail right from the notice you get when banned but the link brings up a error window about the mail client not being set up, even though im on the mailing list and all....its just ridiculous...

wrong again son!
people who bought them in closed beta spent like 50 aur... I spent 4800, we are both getting 4800... I only bought aur to get BPO's there is nothing I want with aur now, I would not have bought aur to begin with were it not for bpo's, and for those who just bought them they were advised by ccp to pick them up befor oct 8th... then a month later remove them?
isn't that a little disingenuous?

I see your point but i wouldn't necessarily call it a swindle since you are getting reimbursed in aur. & though right now there may be nothing im sure there will be something you'll want to buy with said aur. with the rate CCP is going. also im sure CCP has a plan to fix this currently jacked game, alts are not the only ones defending this game. but back to the original question. with the rate of consistency fps games are showing, Yes i think Dust 514 will survive IF it can stray from the obvious path and actually become something 'New' which I think it will be. |

seriously? the game has average no more than 4k players for quite some time now. while that figure may be stable, it surely is not indicative of any growth. Eventually some of those 4k players will move on and more will do so than we have new ones join the fold. quit fooling yourselves.

I hope 1.7 will be the adrenalin boost that it needs hopefully they can keep it rolling in 1.8 with some scout fixes and at least one new game modes maybe a new heavy weapon even better the other heavies or pilot dropsuits.

I have to really try to finish a game negative, and no, I don't play PC. I think this will be most evident in FW 2.0 where every match will be a drain on your wallet. People will generally go for econo fits in pubs to bank up for good gear in FW so they can bank up LPs to buy the best gear for PC. It's like an economic ecosystem. It's many times more sophisticated than games where you unlock something better and you never have a reason (or even the ability) to use the cheaper version. The core ideas/mechanics of this game are really compelling.
It still has a LONG way to go, but CCP has demonstrated the ability to make progress every month--look at the roadmap they laid out after 1.0 dropped, they've done nearly everything on their list. This game is leagues better than when 1.0 launched, and when they finish getting in the rest of the missing content, bump up the TTK, and get things balanced, the foundation will be in a pretty decent spot.

Dust has its niche. It's a shooter with a (relatively) complex skill leveling / progression unlocking system, that also has something of an attached skinner box (there is no shame in admitting this - they're endemic to F2P games). Sometimes things are removed, grow up and stop throwing a tantrum about it - you've paid a pittance (which is being 'refunded' in the form of ingame currency) for an item that you've gotten quite a bit of use out of. |

For sure FW will be an ISK sink, especially at the beginning. But if the LP store doesn't turn out to be profitable, then people will ***** and moan until CCP adjusts it as such. Either that, or they'll just stop participating.
IMO, Proto gear/weapons needs to be severely expensive, were one loss can leave your game negative. Adv gear need to be sustainable up to about 4 deaths per game. Standard/Militia needs to afford you 10+ deaths while still running a profit. The goal here is to bring industry Dust side, where eventually Proto is only available through player driven markets where they needed to be built. Whether that's Eve side or both, idk.
This game needs more ISK sinks, otherwise there is no feeling of loss. |

You were never promised permanence with those items - you were only promised infinite copies so long as those items existed, you signed off on the EULA about that. You weren't 'swindled' as they included a statement that you ACCEPTED that said 'at some future point we may change, or remove things and you may not exactly be happy about it, but we are ultimately doing it for [reasons]'.
The skill system is unique as far as shooters are concerned.
'AR514' while being something I myself have complained about is only currently in existence due to improvements to hit detection (good things) not yet having damage numbers adjusted on weapons adjusted for too-low numbers on TTK (a bad thing). It will be addressed eventually, though it is problematic it isn't *as* problematic as say... objects disappearing the first time they're shot at from beyond 400m, or things not rendering at all.
You are never held under duress or forced to choose something that's FOTM or an active hindrance to your merc, and as far as shooters go this game does present a lot of deep choice, please try and name another fps that has as many complexities like scan profile vs strength, or simply something as complex as fitting choices... or choices on how to progress your character (things that will continue to expand throughout the games life). Will there always be a FOTM? Probably, the only game that the devs have ever considered 'perfectly balanced' that I can think of is starcraft 1... and they only accomplished that about a year or two before the release of starcraft 2. |

They already have the systems in place to make it happen, plus I don't think "crafting" and FPS games pair all that well. I would hate for the DUST team to spend many months of precious development resources to design and build the crafting systems for DUST. That time and effort could be much better spent adding new and interesting gameplay content (that involves shooting stuff) and otherwise improving the gameplay experience.

I completely agree, except that manufacturing really should take place in EVE. They already have the systems in place to make it happen, plus I don't think "crafting" and FPS games pair all that well. Tie crafting into PC - boom, a reason to do it. |

PC will produce resources for sure, but if you've ever seen what's involved in manufacturing something in EVE, you'll be thankful that people are doing it there instead of DUST. Invention, datacores, raw materials, creating jobs in open production slots, fueling/defending stations to manufacture in... It's not the kind of thing I want to do with a controller. Have mercs generate/sell the raw materials and the EVE guys turn it into useful stuff and sell it back to us.

I ran a wormhole corp producing t3 modules for a year... and sadly that's *nothing* on some of the stuff required for t2 production or capship production. I was also briefly involved in booster production in lowsec (but that turned out to not be as profitable as originally thought). |

Let people b!tch about bpos, and who the hell is complaining about the respec?
Seriously they're changing pretty much everything to do with vehicles it would be impossible not to refund something because alot of skills just won't exist anymore and almost all of them will do something different.
If anything is broken about the game it's the fact that the weapons are so unbalanced that the only sensible fit to keep you alive is damage mods and lots of defense tanking, or that the matchmaking still won't prevent new players from being massacred, but even then there's no cause to say that it's dying.
At this point the only people still playing are the ones willing to tough out the torturous parts and keep investing their time and they do it because they like the game and want to see it as well as their capabilities grow, as long as there's people like that the game won't go anywhere.
I'm surprised that there's still people complaining about every little change that is slightly inconvenient for them and therefore hound the game and then put the onus on CCP to correct their "mistake" instead of allowing them and working with them to address REAL problems and have them focus on things that will make the game grow like PVE.
Shame on the players that manipulate CCP's willingness to listen to their customers to further their own selfish goals, if there's any reason for the game to crash and burn it's because of you. |
