Given that these 2 games are EoNs (see what I did here) apart there are quite a few in game features that would make Dust slightly better to digest.
1. A single grenade
Yes. In KZSF you get only 1 grenade. I know people with crappy gun game like Kujo, Andy and Zatara would hate this but its a good thing.
2. Focused maps i.e. either make a map/game mode infantry only or make it Vehicle/AV specific
Right now maps are a mix up of both infantry and vehicle. This promotes cheesy gameplay rather than actual skill. Having infantry only maps would allow the infantry folks to run and gun and be merry whilst having Vehicle specific maps/game modes would allow AV and Vehicles to duke it out. In the infantry maps on KZSF the snipers are actualy up close an personal sniping you in the face and not in the red zone. Quickscoping FTW!
3. No supply depots
Supply depots are home point promotes camping. Removing them would help focus more on Logi roles and bring out the snipers into the open.
4. Logi specific equipment
Logi's should be the only one carrying nanohives, nanite injectors, droplinks and reppers. This will make people play this role more.
5. Logi specific weapons
Since the Logi will be doing a lot support people, their weapons should be limited to sidearms only.
6. Drones
Do I really need to explain why?
7. Automatic shotguns
High damage with low range. Great for CQC.

As someone who chose Amarr logi because of the sole purpose of getting 3 equipment slots while still maintaining a Light Weapon and a side arm...I support logi's only running sidearms.
This would in my opinion, change the game dramatically and come close, if not all the way, to solving the issue of logi's being better slayers.

I should slap you really really really hard.
Aside from nanohives, those are the only things we're allowed to use to replenish ammo. I find myself running out of ammo all of the time and having to either run across the map or leave the battlefield for the safe zone JUST so I can replenish.
We should have more of them but with some type of cool down possibly. |

Yeah. I'm enjoying my logic...since you know...you didn't give a good reason against it and just insulted my intelligence.
In fact, you're actually supporting my idea SINCE if a tanker can blow up our only supply depot in the battlefield, both teams are pretty screwed and have to rely on blueberries to drop nanohives all of the time.

I have gone 47-0 sniping in the middle of the battlefield on ground. Sleepy Zan also snipes on the ground. Real sniping takes skill. He is the only other sniper I have seen that doesnt perch up on top of the towers sniping down.

2)Awful, you see, many pilots are ONLY spec'd into vehicles and will be forced into one game mode, dedicated vehicle drivers would quit or demand a respec
3) with 1.7, vehicles need supply depots to resupply ammo. SDs in general offer stratigic holding points and as such, are a good thing to the flow of fighting

2. "cheesy gameplay"? Vehicle piloting is extremely financially risky, takes a lot of skill, and requires one to manage and time module use properly. Vehicles is just as valid a playstyle as infantry, and to push them out and segregate them to just a few specific battles is pretty unfair. Despite the presence of vehicles in Dust, most engagements tend to be infantry vs infantry, so infantry already have a place to "run and gun and be merry".
3. People come at supply depots at there own risk, and frankly I have never found supply depot camping to be a problem in Dust. Even if it is camped, I like this sort of watering hole type stuff.
4. The support class gets an AR, and and a damn HMG in KZ:SF, AND get sidearms. None of this "sidarms only" BS cannot be supported by citing KZ:SF. Logis can't do the job of supporting their teammates if they can't hold their own long enough to survive because they're stuck with a low range sidearm.
5. Logis don't need logi specific equipment, the point of the logi is quantity of equipment, not unique equipment.
For both 4 and 5 you're singling out the logi for weapon and equipment changes while using KZ:SF as your guide, but why are you singling out the logi when EVERY class in KZ:SF has unique weapons and equipment, and not just the support class. Why don't you also suggest "scout specific weapons and equipment", "commando specific weapons and equipment", or "assault specific weapons and equipment", etc?
Logi-bias aside, the whole point of Dust's fitting system is to NOT be tied down to specific weapons and equipment, and to create whatever you want within the confines of your suit's slots and PG/CPU. I like this freedom, I don't want it gone.

I am using the Logis as a baseline. If you play or ever played LOLPC almost everyone is a Logi. Weapons should be like ships in Eve;- race specific. If you are skilled into Caldari ARs, you should be using caldari ARs. All classes need to be changed.
For example;- Assaults should have no equipment. Scouts should have 2 equipment slots for Scanners, REs and Proxies. Heavies should be able to carry all 3 types of grenades;- after all they are supposed to go toe to toe with a tank.
In addition to that why have an Assault Suit when everyone can go Amarr Logi and carry a Primary and a sidearm? You dont need anything other suit IMHO.
CCP in trying to please the masses has got the roles confused. They nerfed the Cal Logi;- but has that stopped people from using it. Till I stopped playing Dust I was trolling with my Militia heavy with a single damage mod and laser rifle. Try that out and see how OP that **** is.
As long as these combinations are available you will always have a FOTM.

+1 only to the auto shottys (minmatar shotty?), logi only sidearm (I'm a dedicated logi BTW), and option to be revived, I hate getting rezzed by some academy blue who doesn't know WTF to do, give the medic suit a repper instead...

If you want roles to be enforced, the key is changing the bonuses (detailed proposal), not making suits restrictively boring.
Assaults should have bonuses to their respective racial weapons. The Amarr assault already does that, and its awesome. Once TTK is fixed, the general assault bonus should be 1% damage per level for light weapons to make them better at assaulting than logis, the shield recharge bonus is useless for Gallente assault. Logis should have bonuses to equipment to promote the role of assaulting. Neither the assaults or logis should have armor/shield bonuses, HP/regen bonuses belong on sentinels.
Claiming laser rifle + anything is OP is hard to take seriously.
Also, Amarr logis are painfully slow, and has low stamina; I have prototype Amarr logi, but I actually prefer using the assault for the speed, stamina, laser bonus (great for semi-auto scrambler rifle), and though it has 1 less low slot, it has 60 more base shields (almost a complex shield extender).
I do like the idea of assaults having no equipment slots, and scouts having 2. Would help differentiate scouts and assaults from their basic frame counterparts.

Greetings, Sentient! I'm not sure how long you've been playing Dust 514, but I can safely assume you're a diehard classic FPS gamer! (I was a fan of KZ when that "wonderful game of race hatred in the outer planets" came out for PS2--LOVE ALMOST EVERYTHING KZ!)
But like you expressed on the side, KZ and Dust are SO FAR from each other in point of view... KZ is close to CLASSIC proven FPS design,... and Dust is, well... still something so different in its purpose that we as players are STILL not sure yet where we're being taken, and the only thing we ARE sure of is that the game is frequently adverse to our classic-thinking:
1. Classic FPS give you clearly-cut combat roles... Dust says pick your modules to make your "role" more unique but less clear-cut. 2. Classic FPS makes your role determine your available (and uncomplicated) inventory... Dust says feel free to learn and operate any of 400+ items, to forget your job-type and build a 'career' of role-crossing knowlege. 3. Classic FPS requires you to grind your skill at the controller buttons to master the game... Dust gave the most controversial controller "aim assist" I've ever come across; they practically 'automate' your controller grind, and instead give you some seroius math grinding that my old FPS's never tried with their players.
I can't be sure if your "classic game" (right phrase?) suggestions would actually improve THIS game. A decreasing percentage of us, especially Newberrys (which is why I wasn't sure how long you've been at Dust) still want to make the game better match the classic FPS style, so they can get on with what they know--it's the style they've grown comfortable with, and LOL, Dust is a VERY un-comfortable game.
But, I actually LIKE points 1 through 3 above. CCP CLAIMED this ride was gonna be "different" and they are standing true in a way that's got me hooked. I think I know the valid place you're suggestions are coming from, but I don't mind if Dust remains "a really different place to go to" from that place.
