Is DUST becoming Heavy-centric?

Since only one heavy weapon builds up heat, I would naturally assume that it was intended to use the SCR or Laser Rifle, and the Heavy weapons would be an option due to the heavy frame. That being said, I don't see much issue with roles when a Heavy dons the AR. It would actually make better sense to run it with the SCR though.

Slow, sure, but excellent for point defense / offense where speed and mobility are hindered. Its also a very cost effective way to get hitpoints. 1200 for essentially free. A cheap way to counter the lower TTK we have now. I think thats really the crux of the issue, short TTK's. Players do not like dying, and so they will seek out builds that will help them stay alive. Brick tanking was the first symptom of this. Next came a gravitation towards heavy suits, who have all the hitpoints you could want baked in. The only real way to see where this game is going is to watch PC where the real competition is at. I can promise you this. It's not happening in PC. The only reason why you are seeing it is because people think that a couple hundred more HP will make the difference in the game. Little do they know that it won't help them survive longer than an extra second. They'll still be useless with light logi support, with lack of speed, with lack of hack bonus, with lack of everything else other than what a heavy is good for which is rendered useless with a 60 round clip in a long duration fight and without logi support. All ar users have to do against a hmg is get on a roof or run out to 30 meters and they are practically invicible. If you accept your limitations you go beyond them
