Currently at the end of a match we go to a victory screen and watch the losing MCC explode.
I think people would find the end of a match much more fun and memorable if the MCC blew up with us still playing, and then have the match end and cut to Victory screen.
It should be very satisfying to watch the enemy MCC blow up, and maybe even kill those within 700m or maybe a fully kilometer of the MCC.
The question of if the MCC death counts against your death count or not would be up for debate I guess. |

This is a great idea. Im upset I didn't think of it. It would be great to snag a kill as the MCC exploded, too.

It would be good to know those trying to stay safe inside would get the death they deserve. It would look cool to see people jumping out of it as it blew.
It would make for good video recording as well. A big explosion to end the battle. One that you actually look up and see, not just one in a fixed screen at the end. |

I hope that eventually they will change the animation to the MCC crashing into the ground and exploding, killing everyone in a certain radius. It would be nice to watch, and make more sense than it just suddenly blowing up while looking brand new.

Considering there are constant missiles raining down on the MCC I do not see the explosion as sudden or unexplained. That said having it lose control and crash to the ground would be cool.
Either way, having it get destroyed while we are still running around the battlefield would be quite immersive and would be a great way to see the match end. We see it blow up, but not from out characters perspective. That would make the scene all the more powerful.
Being near or far from the explosion would be fun either way. I imagine myself spawning in the last moment and jumping from the MCC as it explodes before I even hit the ground. In any circumstance having the match end after the explosion would be a lot of fun. It gives you all the fun of watching ships blow up that people get in EVE. |

Hmmm. Let me bring this up with Game Design and the rest of Level Design. This also needs to be brought up with our video guys (they did have to make the fly by's for the one you see now).
I like the idea as well, so it is at least worth bringing up and seeing what has to be said about it. No promises for you guys. I do however promise to mention it in this mornings meeting with game design.
Edit: This also might need a code change for the EOM trigger in general, which would mean it has to go through the programmers as well. Of course would need testing as well. These are just some of the things that would be immediately thought about I believe. |

I suggested this idea a long while ago and got shot down it was literally the exact same idea and would kill MCC campers which I why proposed it.

The video guys only did the matinee / fly by's. The camera work basically. The explosion and FX are another department. |

Not sure how this would eliminate campers since its only on the topic of the "end of the match". The camping needing to be done has already been done. |

I don't think the afk in the MCC qualifies as camping. According to the Urban Dictionary website, camping is: "The Act of staying in one spot in a map in a first person shooter video game to gain a tactical advantage over an enemy or group of enemies".
I'm pretty damn sure staying in the MCC does not provide a tactical advantage for your team; if anything it provides the enemy team the advantage of having one less person to deal with. It would be another story if CCP gave MCCs an actual function.
Blatant Dust_514 recruiting in the silliest of places. :P

So back from the meeting. Game Design and other Level Designers like the idea. We will take it into consideration and think more on it for future game modes, though we don't think we will change it for current skirmish.
That's just the results of the conversation. Nothing is set in stone. The good news is, every one thought it sounded cool and its worth looking at in the future. |

I come in a couple hours early, first official meeting of the day is right at the start of the day which is with all the game designers and level designers. That's why it was fast. I just brought it up right away (along with a few other things a couple of our other mercs asked me about). |

- Match outcome for PC/FW purposes is still declared at the same point in time (e.g. we see the victory banner, TQ is updated with the outcome, but the match server otherwise keeps running into overtime).
- Losers do not get the luxury of instant recalls: They must manually recall their vehicles and return their gear to a supply depot if they want to keep it (which means they must evade enemy fire long enough to do so).
- Losers can quit the match at any time after the match is over without penalty, but doing suicides their clone first.
- Winners can still quit to instantly recall their gear, the same as they do now.
Also, you may need to consider the possibility of double knock-outs, i.e. if hostile null cannons keep shooting at the winner's MCC, or even if there are still missiles in the air when the null cannons shut down.

Adding a few rooms into the MCC would be sweet along with a vital point such as the enigine/shields room. Having to hack or blow locked bulkheads in order to enter these rooms and drop the MCC shields would be wicked.

New Eden is massive, the ships in Eve Online are massive, why shouldn't the stuff in Dust 514 be massive (bearing in mind polycount budgets and what not of course)

the mcc needs to do more than just blow up in the air as that looks fake. the mcc should suffer power loss to the engines an then fall to the ground an explode. while falling there should be smaller explosions goin on to show the damage on the ship is major and if at all doable have pieces fall off it as well. and yes i know this would be a major rework of the mcc destruction an would take a lot of work but i think the work would be worth it as the end result would be so cool. |
