It really depends on you and your style. If you love flanking maneuvers then this is definitely a good idea. If you're more the "run into the battlefield on full auto" kinda guys...then probably not a sound investment.

Just to clarify, Uprising was an update. 1.6 is the current build. We get patches every month, EVE gets updates every six months or so.
