I don't notice any difference. The attack arc feels slightly wider but I'm not sure if that's just because I got lucky or I'm getting good.
What "specific improvements" did you do to the nova knife hit detection? I want to know.

This post makes me sad. I was really, really hoping they were fixed. I still remember the disappointment of, on impulse, going proto NKs around 1.1 and realizing "oh. They're useless and broken." Just give them a virtual range of 3 meters or something. They deserve a day in the sun. |

I flank around and I pee in the wind. that's what it feels like to use NKs. So what now? Fix soon? I mean we are trying to be different and away from the masses with auto weapons that takes no skill to use; by using real awareness and infiltration. we work hard for our kills but are punished by pelayers that suck.
I just want to kill with these bad boyz. No AR for me, no MD for me, no SG, no Scrambler Rifle and no SR for me. The pistol is cool but takes longer to kill. Please fix my "sidearm" of choice. |

feels no different to me too, just no longer getting blue shields! sneaking up on baddies that are standing still then my knives just go through them... WITHOUT DAMAGE OR EVEN BLUE SHIELDS!!!
[EDIT] I was about to quit DUST then I saw "hit detection improvements for knives" and stayed... now I'm thoroughly angry at CCPs lies!

However after this feedback we spent some time frowning and scratching our heads wondering what was up. CCP Geediiiiky then did some more serious digging and found another sneaky bug hiding in there relating to the hit angles. We are currently fixing it in 1.7 and we are hoping to be able to hotfix it for you next week. IGÇÖll let you know.

I was wandering around with my commando suit and a laser and swarm launcher last night in a kind of mid-line defense build. Then a nova-knife scout popped out of nowhere and my initial thought was, "whelp this makes my weakness on this stick out like a sore thumb." But it became pretty clear that the scout wasn't able to land any hits, and with a little assistance from a round or two from a blue's AR I was able to land a couple of melee hits and take him out.
To his discredit, he seemed to spend a lot of the time trying to get behind me, but I guess he may not have realized that neither of my weapons was going to hurt him. |

knives in version 1.6 have become a weapon of precision with extreme, (are harder to use than before) and sigen doing no damage (blue shield), not fixed anything (were better in the 1.5) google translator |

Let me put it this way: People will and have always found a way to glitch into sprinting while charging in just about every patch for as long as I can remember. Out of all this time, there hasn't been one legitimate topic topic complaining that nova knives are OP. Just something to think about.
I tried to put a level into Amarr Commando once, but got a server notification saying "Why?"

There was one player who claimed they were OP even while they are UP. His excuse was that they dished out too much damage for his heavy suit. But the funny part didn't come until the other heavy players came in and put that noob in his proper place. The heavy players were actually supportive of the knives even if it killed them a lot. Then more non-heavy, non-knifer guys came to make sure the noob felt just as stupid for even suggesting a nerf.

Alright, another question, If I may?
Any thought to changing the R3 melee damage? It currently ignores the fact that you have Nova Knives and only utilizes the dropsuit's melee damage. You can have all skills level five, stacked complex sidearm damage mods and prototype knives but the R3 melee doesn't change despite having them in hand - making it ALWAYS better to use the R1 slash
The problem with this is that the R3 melee will actively 'coordinate' to the target, turning the camera in a Call of Duty-esque manner toward the target to initiate the attack whereas the R1 slash does not.... though it does have Aim Assist, which is somewhat bizarre when you see it in action.

As long as a target isn't sprinting and is unaware of me, I like walking with a charged knife up them and swish, swish.
Would still like better knives, though. A sprint charge and/or lounge would be cool.
I remember saying how we can have two variants of knives. One for sprint charge and the other for lounge, but I guess that's not coming. A boy can dream :/ |

It was a hit fix after all, I think changing the attack animation is more of a download intensive update. on that thought CCP any thoughts on changing the animation? Have not had a chance to try them yet.

I would prefer sprint charge over dash. Mostly because I can control my sprint and increase its speed as necessary. Also I would imagine you would also need to charge for this dash, allowing mercs to backpedal far enough they could probably kill you before you dash anyway.
Reason why sprint charge works is because it allows you to evade fire while still closing the distance.

I can finally confirm that the knives have definitely gotten better. Not perfect, but better none the less.
I have noticed two things. First is that the range of the attack seems slightly further. I don't need to hug my targets anymore. On that alone it means that I no longer have to be super close to a moving target which means that I can finally hit (and kill) a sprinting target. Using the quick-slash still interrupts the sprint, but damage still registers. The second part is that there is a noticeable curve when I hit a strafing target.
However, I noticed a blind spot with the nova knives. If the target is too close to you, they can definitely evade even a full-on charged attack. It seems that just like assault rifles whose damage starts at the tip of the barrel, the damage seems to start about a 1 foot ahead of you and then the damage curve spreads out from there. This creates a noticeable blind spot for a target to just simply sprint to the side of the knifer to dodge a hit.
Me and the rest of my squad noticed this when it came to close quarter combat. I have been playing for up to 5 hours until now to make sure I understood what was going on. The improvement wasn't noticeable at first but as I kept on playing match after match, I began to see real improvements.
I still have to hide in the shadows though.
But overall, the knives are practically useful once again and I have been able to achieve multiple kills in a single pass during one very special match when I managed to pounce behind an enemy group. I can even compete against a shotty for once while also surprising targets around corners.
CCP, please fix the Nova Knives. Thank you.
