Try the weapons people it really puts things in perspective, I use AR, LR, MD, FG, HMG, SMG, and Flaylock. They are by no means balanced and certainly have their pros/cons but without trying them it is hard to asses what skills they actually require. Want to try an absolutely terrible weapon? Just pick up the breach Flaylock. Want to get outgunned everytime by an AR unless you barrel is straight up their ass? Try the HMG.
Some weapons are general use and others are niche, If you find yourself in a situation where an enemy is using that niche area with the proper weapon, change your engagement, change your weapon, or your tactics. Those roof forgers can get cocky, when they do its very easy to forge them off of that building. Hey now. That gun is teh lulz. Pair it with Flux Grenade and only a heavy can survive direct hits! Well, more inclined too. Especially when you stack the damage mods for it. But yeah. It's pretty much the Plasma Cannon as a side arm. That is as well worded as I can put it. I, for one, have killed quite a few unsuspecting people with it after the nerf.
Catching unsuspecting people with a Flaylock, especially wounded barely hiding behind crates is exactly what the Flaylock was meant for. Then again catching people unawares with a grenade and most weapons will equal success. |

So, no? You don't know about the underwhelming variant of Flaylock that was the least favorite of pretty much everyone that has ever used the Flaylocks (which is understandable, as a few Breach variants of other weapons are ass too)? That it's only teh lulz when paired with the flux because, BY ITS SELF, it cannot fathom to take down shields on top of armor? It's teh lulz because it's so terrible, it REQUIRES the aid of a grenade. (And that rhymed.)
Slag Emberforge wrote: Catching unsuspecting people with a Flaylock, especially wounded barely hiding behind crates is exactly what the Flaylock was meant for. Then again catching people unawares with a grenade and most weapons will equal success.
It really was meant for killing the wounded- people just abused the hell out of it so badly that it became a primary and that's when the nerf hammer slammed it into the ground. It's now properly doing as it was intended. Though, you can really mess up people suits with it if you carry a Flux or you use your main.

Before armor was improved just about everyone ran shield heavy. One Flux to completely strip the shields meant the old school Mass Driver damage could kill an entire closely packed squad in one hit. Locus grenades do half the damage of a Flux and aren't as good against shields but are still decent.
I do miss the days when Assault Mass Drivers did the same damage as today's regular MD but over a wider area and with a faster RoF. Good times. Well worth the complaints back then compared to today's weak sauce MD. |

Oh man, remember when Flux Grenades could kill people? People use throw several Flux and rain down hell with the MD to double check. One of my favorite things that was removed.

That Flux bug only killed bunny hoppers which made it funny as hell. Timing wasn't a problem considering how many people bounce around.

I think the current issue with flaylocks is this;
Forge guns, gain 10% splash radius (std -> adv-> proto) So do - Grenades and mass drivers
Flat locks on the other hand go up 50%. Meaning that the proto is 2x the radius. With skills:
Std Flaylock 0.75m x 1.05 (prof) = 0.7875 Proto Flaylock 1.5m x 1.25 (prof V) = 1.875 .. Wut?
So instead of 121% like all other splash weapons, Flaylock has 238% the radius of std.
Core is good, lower variants gargle bollox. |

It's so insignificant already. It's generally applied when people are, you know, hitting the ground with them from, I don't know, towers? For us ground troopers, we'll see a splash damage once every blue moon, but **** using the gun before pissing and moaning, eh? If people would put the initiative in to USE the damn weapons they complain about, half the crying would stop.

Friendly fire is going to mess with all the AoE weapons or at least make their use a lot more challenging. At least Flaylock has a tiny burst radius. I think we'll see very few Mass Drivers in FW. |

fix this crap CCP! If u hit someone direct fine? but if u depend on splash to do dmg the amt of dmg should be much less. lower splash on all handheld wpns to 1m and make the dmg 30% of direct.

Multiplied by 6 and given a 5 meter radius yeah it is to much Also double check the things you say, whining about call of duties health bars in this game of all places is ridiculous

If your getting hit by 6 standard variation mass driver slugs, what the hell are you doing for 6 seconds? I mean come on, you could bake a cake, and still not be dead!
As for the radius, if you make it any smaller you will end up where no one is scared because you will be able to side step an area denial weapon!
And if I wanna complain about the screwed up health were explosives either kill you, or do ABSOLUTELY nothing I will! I am just at my wits end with people complaining about explosive damage! So many people want immunity from explosive in this game because it mucks with their gungame, have you ever stopped to think about the gungame people with explosives have?
Have you ever been hounded from someone you can't pin down? Have you ever ran from a explosive only to encounter a 5 man squad? Have you ever been pinned down from explosives only tonhave a 5 man squad flank you? Have you ever tried to assault an installation across open ground only to be ferried into a killzone?
So please stop whining about goddamn explosives, its a weapon just like every other one in the game, deal with it, adapt to it, survive!

i would say blast radius between weapons is massively imbalanced, Mass Drivers have FAR too big a radius, flaylocks and plasma cannons far too small. really i dont think any devs tried to hit someone with a standard flaylock, i found it impossible.

Prius Vecht wrote:+1 the radius for splash weapons is much too large.
MD prime example of how poor CCP is at coding splash.
On some md variants yes (freedom assault I'm looking at you) it is pretty big, considering they're rapid fire aoe machines with almost 9 meters of splash range. Yes I know theyre suppression weapons and they're not *as* easy to use as some would claim but its still pretty crazy.
If anything should have splash like that it should be the plasma cannon |
