the real problem is the horrible way splash dmg is done in this game. this is a shooter where these noob tube weapons make it so u dont have to aim. even worse they do basically the same splash damage as when you hit them directly.
fix this crap CCP! If u hit someone direct fine? but if u depend on splash to do dmg the amt of dmg should be much less. lower splash on all handheld wpns to 1m and make the dmg 30% of direct. |

lolnope. There are two weapons with equivalent splash and direct damage. Those are the Flaylock and the grenade. And considering that direct damage gets splash applied to the target too... well, lolnope.
EDIT: also, I hope you realise that forge splash is like one seventh of its direct damage...

this doesnt make sense and probly just means ur a MD user who depends on not aiming. there's no way splash should be anything close to direct dmg or be a large radius unless its a grenade or missile launcher. What other shooter gives u credit for being close. its ludicrous. |

Lol don't have to aim argument back? So I can shoot in the opposite direction and shrill get a kill on you? Fact is you have to aim with the mass driver some and it takes longer to kill with them at. I finally put sp into ar and my kdr is on the rise.that should tell you something.

I don't get it why whine on MD splash when like 90% of the kills are from AR's.
And yes MD is my weapon of choice but most of my kills avarage around 10-30 meters from me. Over 30 meters and the slow flying MD rounds are easy to avoid (you can see and hear them flying) if I don't predict your movement and lead the shot.
Keep your distance and you are fine against MD.

Now, Aaron my friend, what the **** are you doing ****ing from a tree in the first place?
Oh and my own MD doesn't discriminate between my HP and the enemy's HP, so if I screw up I end up killing myself a lot. Not to mention how easy it is to teamkill with them in PC, and soon FW. I think they're fine. I'll agree forge guns should get nerfed to hell and back, though, because I've got opinions.

I agree with the solution that was put forward back when everyone and their mothers were running dual Core Flaylocks.
Splash damage should gradually falloff the further from the center of the blast that you are.
In a perfect world, Direct hits would deal the direct damage plus 100% of splash (further rewarding direct hits). The splash radius would then be chopped up into 99 increments which would each represent the percentage of splash applied being stepped down to nothing at the edge of the splash radius.
It would probably need to be much more simple than that though.

Yep Mass Drivers are easy mode....
Until you have to aim up and far away.
Vanilla MDs without skills or upgrades have trouble taking out MLT suits. The problem with most nerf QQ threads is that when people like a gun, they typically upgrade the proficiency skill
Also, MD splash is very bad until you upgrade it to level 5. And even then the only MD with a large blast radius is the Assault Variants, and they do less damage
I for one, have proficiency V
Plus with the low ammo count, you have to make sure every shot counts, carry nanohives, and you need to carry flux grenades because the do jack all to shield tankers
Heck if anything the Mass Drivers need a ammo buff

If anyone is killing you with the first two frequently either they've stacked damage mods, or you suck la fat one hardcore.

I use a variety of weapons. The assault rifle is the easiest and when I'm running with it I earn my highest KDR. I also have proficiency in SMG which tears up people even at AR range. That's the weapon you should fear. I only have operation 3 in mass driver and Flaylock. The mass driver is by far the most situational and I'll lose the most suits when using it and the Flaylock is just completely under powered. I did have Mass Driver Operation 3 back in Chromosome and used it as my primary weapon.
Each weapon has its own strengths and weaknesses. Since the complaint is clearly about mass drivers lets talk about those. First, the weapon does half the damage it used to do and with a somewhat reduced radius. Its great for clearing out mercs that are hiding behind cover, especially when the mass driver user has a height advantage. It also does a decent job of disrupting an attack. With its reduced damage I mainly use it as a support weapon by reducing enemy defenses or cleaning up already wounded mercs. However, if I'm engaging someone that has a height advantage over me then I'm pretty much screwed and may even kill myself during the engagement. It's exceedingly difficult to get a direct hit due to travel time, arc and lack of useable sights. AR? Super easy to aim and hit. Effective but boring.
Finally, I laugh at the notion of 'shooter'. DUST, like its big brother EVE, is about experimenting with different combinations of fittings, squad combinations and tactics in order to get the upper hand over your opponent. It's not intended to be a competitive shooter. DUST is about winning the fight. If I know the mass driver causes you irritation, or even fear, then I'll probably bring it just to disrupt your attack.
My advice is to drop your preconceived notions that this is just a shooter, try a wide variety of weapons and gear, start thinking like a warrior and have fun experimenting. |

They are by no means balanced and certainly have their pros/cons but without trying them it is hard to asses what skills they actually require. Want to try an absolutely terrible weapon? Just pick up the breach Flaylock. Want to get outgunned everytime by an AR unless you barrel is straight up their ass? Try the HMG.
Some weapons are general use and others are niche, If you find yourself in a situation where an enemy is using that niche area with the proper weapon, change your engagement, change your weapon, or your tactics. Those roof forgers can get cocky, when they do its very easy to forge them off of that building. |

Hey now. That gun is teh lulz. Pair it with Flux Grenade and only a heavy can survive direct hits! Well, more inclined too. Especially when you stack the damage mods for it. But yeah. It's pretty much the Plasma Cannon as a side arm. That is as well worded as I can put it.
I, for one, have killed quite a few unsuspecting people with it after the nerf.

Whats up with the flux argument, you can use flux with other weapons also... It's like saying use Scrampler rifle with core locus and its lulz....
