Coming froma traditional standpoint of shotguns, were you sacrifice range for extreme close up killing power, I'd say they are UP in this game. Probably to the point of being useless.
Getting with in range with a shotgun itself is a challenge in this game. Then not being able to kill in 3 or less direct hits, every time, makes it useless. What's the point of using it? I think it would be UP because it can't even be used in certain gamemodes on certain maps in certain situations. For a gun to lack range and power is a double dose of UP. The way the gamemodes and maps are set up in this game, getting within Shotgun range is severly restricting. You're shackled to only certain maps, and certain areas within those maps.
It is the red-headed stepchild of DUST 514, and really can't work in the game because of how the game is setup as a whole. Shotguns are always fun, and not always super effective, but in DUST its madness.
I think the only solution to making the gun worth using is to take off the damage mod stacking penalty for the weapon. Back before Uprising, the Shotgun was beast to use, and was still plenty hard back then.

1)3-4 more meters of optimal range or 2) Change prof skill to Damage per level like most weapon prof. |

Bricked Med Frames shouldn't be able to tank a point blank shotgun blast to the chest. To many times, I get killed by med frame shotgunners who just tank the shot, and the fire before my next blast. I can't tank the dang shot, so I die and they survive with 150 armor.

I never understood why all the breach weapons work the same.
If I break into an area, why would I want a slow firing weapon if I am not sure where and/or how many foes they are. They can limit the range and clip size and give it good RoF.
Or High RoF with concussive force and lower damage with standard reload time.
Or Moderate RoF with big clip and good damage but long reload time.
Simple things to give weapons and races more character. |

I'm not one to do this but it has to be said. When I saw a certain someone make a video of ONE shotty kill and then to stop and aim down your sights? No... just no. Don't run around with a duvelle? think that's how you spell it one then say you 'dominate' with them. Hardly use it than you think you can rewrite the books for shotguns.-That is all.
