Since I've known a few newbros leave due to the complexity of this game when starting out. That and the pub stomping from those that should know better. I think the introduction of PVE contracts will teach them more about the game before they venture out into pvp.
Of course CCP advertising the game a bit more as well wouldn't hurt.

Um i have been playing dust since closed beta and i also got to play eve with my father. As soon as pve comes out pvp can rot in a trash can because it will never be touched by me and many others ever again. PVE=fun, friendship, teamwork, and positive feed back for dust. PVP=stress, trolls, nerf fiends and haters. |

It'll keep the oldbros like me as well. I'm just about done with PvP for now, just want to chill with my corp, rack up some ISK and loot, sell it and get back to FWing. |

Sorry... there is no PvE... the drones are player-purchased and deployed by the player to fight for him... It's not as if there's a human vs drone game mode or what ever stuff you're thinking of... |

Player vs Environment.
In this case the "environment" would most likely be rogue drones and some type of gameplay that would involve you and a squad breaching a district and killing some drones for rewards. |

So you advocate protostomping in pubgames and then say this
PVP can be fun, friendship, teamwork and positive feedback if matches were balanced and not ruined by a minority of protostomping trolls .. you are the ones ruining it for everyone else and you'll probably ruin PVE too |

So because the drones are player controlled it isn't actually pve but a version of PvP.

Umm, yes, PVE is on the drawing board. Frankly I expected it sooner. The lack of PVE is one of the things really hurting Dust right now. |

That player count is a little (ha!) misleading. That's including Eve and Dust players together.

I would love to get some PvE going in Dust. I know that several buddies would play much more often if we had some PvE content we could co-op together. It would breath some life into this game, that I deeply enjoy, but also feel is getting more stale by the week.

Can I get a source cited on this? I have seen that teaser video where some mercs fight a few rogue drones, but nothing more than that has been said about PvE to my knowledge. |

Don't get your hopes up that CCP can make a PvE experience that doesn't get boring after a week or two. They really don't have a lot of experience in AI design. Expect lots of "OK, now Bob, kill the last drone on the right; Fred and Jane, get ready for the respawn behind the stairs; Fred, they'll see you first so concentrate on drawing their fire while Jane kills them".
I expect Dust PvE to be more of a tutorial and feeder exercise for new players than something that will keep you playing for years.

While you might be right about the silly AI part, I think that it would still help new players get familiar with Dust. It would also allow players to try out fits before taking them into the real world (PvP). Plus, at this point, anything besides ambush, skirmish, and domination would be a WELCOME addition. |

You are more than likely looking at the numbers for the Tranquility server, which represents both Dust and Eve players.
Here is a link for some supposedly more accurate numbers-
http://eve-offline.net/?server=dust
On the OP, yes, I've come to believe Dust needs PvE soon. I feel that the WP cap on the Battle Academy is as low as it is to prevent people from ISK farming, plus it is of no help when new players actually make the jump from BA to the real world. PvE would be nothing but a positive for Dust in general, in my opinion. |
