With the conclusion of the Tournament, I would like to ask for feedback from everyone that participated on how the tournament was run. While this doesn't specifically cover the format of the tournament, ideas are also welcome on that front.
A couple of things already on the list:
Practice match format will change, likely to a system where you specifically book in a match between set hours. Only team captains will be required to sign up on the site, and they will submit the roster. All times will be given in UTC only. No conversion to local time zones will be given.

Ok on the topic of feedback - salvage didn't work until the 3rd battle, payout and prizes were underwhelming I am sure most were taking part for the glory not the prizes, said prizes are available randomly as salvage anyway and in the case of the quafe suits available this month anyway, sign up was complicated for people who don't speak English as their primary language, after one of our fights the ESL website kept coming up with an error saying the match was contested and asking out captain to post the result with no clear indication as to how (it sorted itself eventually and we proceeded to the next round but it was squeaky bum time thinking we were dq'd and unsure why.).
Thats about all I can think of on the whole good tournament, how about running a tanker tournament next time as vehicle users felt dissatisfied with this event.
TEST signature please help me think of a better one.

My feedback:
Seedings: While I don't really have a good idea on how to do this in a proper way, I really think it would be for the best if some kind of seedings could be done.
Maybe do seedings based on practice matches prior to the tourney? Like you could say each team can have a max of x practice matches that will all give points for winning (and less for losing a match?), where teams then will be seeded based on how many points they have (most points = #1 seed). Practice matches won't be required, but playing (and winning) them will likely give you a better seeding.
Format: The simple elimination format used in this tourney is just fine for me, but mixing it up with something else from tourney to tourney won't be bad either.
I would just like to see semifinals (and maybe quarterfinals as well, depending on size of tourney etc) be bo3 or something similar. Initial rounds / group stage / whatever is fine as bo1, but I think the later rounds (QF / SF unwards) should be bo3.
Prizes: While I know you repeatedly said this tourney should be considered a small tourney, and thus shouldn't have major prizes, I think the prizes given were bad to say the least. Prizes should give players a reason to sign up for a tourney, no matter the size of a tourney as it is a tourney after all, and the prizes for this tourney weren't a reason as to why I participated. They simply weren't good enough to be a reason to participate (for me).
As I said in a thread I think the prizes for this tourney should've have been more like: 50 copies of 1 Officer weapon of choice OR 15 copies of 3 Officer weapons of choice (likewise 25/7 and 10/3 for second and third place). 50 / 100 million ISK (likewise scaled down for second and third place). 30 Quafe suits (like they were, also likewise scaled down for second and third place).
I think this would fit a small tourney fairly well. For larger tourneys the prizes should be much better of course, and possible award something that can't be obtained otherwise, like the intended BO LAV from the closed beta tourney (yes, I know they scrapped that prize afterwards) and the naming of a planet from the Prime League tourney.
Signup problems: This is already covered by the message beneath, so I won't go into more details.

I really need to ask why CCP doesn't seem to have someone running any sort of quality control on decision-making. I have to question why anyone at CCP would have thought running a tournament on a weekend with a DST change at all was a good idea, much less one with local time zones used.
I wasn't even in the tournament, and when all my clocks changed on Saturday night, I wondered if people would remember the clock change when they went to the next days' tournament matches. Without having any skin in the game, it came to mind. I have to question what in the heck CCP is doing if it's not capable of anticipating these problems.
I feel a lot of the mistakes the DUST team has made over the last year really comes down to just nobody anticipating the obvious issues.

isk payouts would be welcome. this will encourage people to take part and help teams that might not have a lot of isk spare. these matches wacked up costs very quickly. and tbh the more people taking part, if the isk payouts are good enough we should have people just signing up to see how they fair which is good for any tonry in my view (some my disagree)

FEEDBACK: 1: The ESL site REALLY needs more instructions for us new to the tournament scene, even specific to the event. If there was a list of steps on HOW to proceed and confirm if we're doing it correctly, that would have been nice. 2: When it came to the confirmation of whether a team had ALL of its members correctly associated and registered, it wasn't until AFTER the deadline, and happenstance, that I happen to be on this forum, that CCP Logibro had a list of all correctly/ qualified signups. There needs to be put into place a "team roster verification" that the team captain can look at to make sure they did everything correctly IMMEDIATELY after signing up the team; something with an email sent saying "Only 5 of your 10 members are properly registered". Ghost Recon Unit, RUST514, and a few others got jammed on that issue. 3: Directly related to #2, a SPECIFIC forum for only the competition related question and results. Yes, this forum was "Announcement: DUST 514 Squad Cup", but it became more than an announcement of the event; it was the verification of teams and members and directly related issues to address CCP and ESL. Once I had finished my stuff on the ESL site, it really never occurred to me to look back at this forum. By happenstance did I notice the page increases and WHOA, this was more than announcements; it became confirmations also. 4: More practice map time. Once you sign up CORRECTLY, you have automatic access to all of the maps, up until the day of the event. The quicker you register, the more time you have to practice on the maps. Good for teams with members in various time zone, it eases the scheduling of practice, much less knowing what maps are being played and what they look like. 5: Directly related to #4, let EACH member of the registered team have access to the map, along with the ability for each member to make a squad, and be able to choose ATTACKER or DEFENDER. It was nice with the friendly fire, but with everyone on the same side, various strategies had to be imagined, not played out. 6: OOPS, close the front door! The only people that had access to the maps were those that registered. COOL! But that meant that each team could join along other COMPETITOR teams, thus peeking and playing on the same maps. I think my team Ghost Recon Unit was practicing on the same map as Exemplars (which was REALLY cool, much respect), but it went from making strategies to "Lets friendly fire the h*ll out of them, kill 'em, raise 'em back up, shoot 'em again, etc. (which got VERY interesting). Maybe the maps should be first come, first serve, with a time limit, only one team of related member brought in. Not sure, just an idea...
All in all, Ghost Recon Unit had MUCH fun! We would like to thank:
1: CCP/ CCP Logibro and ESL/ Tech De Ra for the event and the opportunity for my small corp to participate in the event. 2: CFBI Lima, for missing the match window/ not showing up. We were stoked, hacking, sweating, blowing *ish up, acting like bada**es! (Yeah, we were nervous). But seriously, we missed CFBI Lima. 3: Grupo de Asalto Chacal, for stomping us and waking us up to what it mean to run FULL PROTO, with skills to back it up. The stomping was bad enough I had half of my team go through the 5 Stages Of Grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance. We had GAC on the tactics; they had us on the FULL PROTO. EXCELLENT match and experience! MUCH LOVE TO GAC AMERICA for the lessons. We gave it all we got! 4: Ghost Recon Unit/ We Who Walk Alone As Ghosts! We went in with only 5 members, did what we could, handled business, got served, learned lessons, blessed to have played among ALL who participated! It was an honor to battle among the best. Congrats to NA Dust Cup winners Outer.Heaven, GAC America, and Exemplars for winning and showing us what it takes.
Much love, much respect

Stream line the application process is the only real issue,
higher is pay outs 3rd prize didnt nearly cover 1/2 of what was spent in battle would be nice.
Other than that maybe smaller sockets for single squad games.. way to much running to objective 300-400m maybe but 600+ 3rd map i think it was was excessive.
Any word on the isk payouts for those who did not receive salvage round 1?

Feedback as follows:
1) If at all possible move away from 3rd party tourney brokers. Try to have as much as possible baked into the existing game for team sign ups (the mechanics could work for individual, sqd, or team events once built) and have leaderboard / brackets built in.
2) Run it like a skins game in golf. You MUST buy in as a team or individual... Example: Each team puts 15 Million ISK and X number of Officer / Proto gear in escrow. The pool of entries then determins total payout on the order of 70% to winner, 20% to 2nd place and 10% to 3rd place.

Well they used 5 MDs & a heavy in the first battle. They then stopped spawning entirely halfway through the second battle to prevent us from cloning them. We sat there aimlessly for 5-10 mins waiting for their MCC to be destroyed as they redlined sniped to preserve those last 2 clones.
