What a Squads Tournament have to do with COD or the AR ?
Anyone with a degree of intelligence, will see that CCP is trying to encourage people to use Squads more. That itself will lead to more people joining Corps. |

6v6? u know the 1 thing that truly separated dust from other FPS on the market was the larger numbers...
maybe new, small maps for this? no vehicles? removes even more from even considering it.
i understand smaller numbers could boost participation as the player base has shrunk, but honestly a short tourney as this is set, normal numbers would work just as well |

I really don't see the point in complaining about neither this being a one-6-man-squad-per-team tournament, nor this being an infantry-only tournament.
One 6 man squad per side makes for a different match than full teams. Variation.
Infantry only makes for a different match than the normal ones where vehicles are used to rush to the objective. Again, variation.
This is one tournament, with it's own set of rules. As CCP has stated, other tournaments will come later, with different formats and rules. If you don't like this particular tournament's set of rules, don't participate in it.
That's it, and that's that. |

The issue with that, is that the last tournament (UF) to give any kind of stats as far as active participation goes, showed a limited number of interested teams able to field 16 players. On the other hand, a lot of teams signed up during the 24 hours or so that they said it would be 8v8 domination.
This doesn't have as much to do with the playerbase size as it does demand from parts of the community. If a substantially larger amount of people want to take part in a 6v6 tournament, then that's what third parties (ESL) who work with CCP will be interested in until we get some kind of spectator interface.
There will be more tournaments after this and some of those will be 16v16. Hell some might be 24v24 or even 32v32 at some point, but there was demand for a smaller scale tournament and CCP/ESL are giving it a try. |

the FAIL of the UF tourney was the timespan first and foremost.
a weekend tourney like this is exactly the right time to do such a thing, and I'm not complaining. Im sure this will be successful (at least leaps and bounds better than the UF tourney), but it still doesn't sit right that this game is a 16v16 game, and are now catering to anything organized of small numbers when the maps, game design and everything don't support it.
I see 'smaller scale' as being short duration.

It's funny I went to the Electronic Sports League website to see what this was all about, saw the side and bottom littered with ads (that I assume fit my internet surfing profile) and was left with a devil on my shoulder saying "maybe I should click this Star Wars Old Republic image and see where it takes me" but the little angel on my other shoulder said "no! by an elite merc pack to get ready for this tourney". I'm popping pills and telling myself I'll last with the faithful until next fanfest.

Don't bother suggesting changes to the event, it's already planned. It's something different, i think it's nice but of course we'd have to be pros to win anything.
I just want to say that Mordu's Challenge is still the best event of this year, along with the 3xSP week. |

You may notice that one of the requirements to be eligible to signup is having skype contact details, this can be added onto your profile by hovering over your name in the top left of your page and choosing edit profile. Having skype contacts for the team allows myself and Logibro to get in touch easily during the cup.
You may all notice that the site has placed the cups on the "8on8" URL and also added "8on8" to the cup names, this is due to the 6on6 navnode not behaving itself and i advise you to ignore any references to "8on8" or "8v8", this cup is still 6 vs 6 |

If a team is signed up to a cup, the site will prevent the team adding more members

1. Only a limmited number of players/squads can join.
2. Only the mots OP players stand a chance to winn some officer weapons, new players dont have a chance in hell.
3. All the veteran OP players dont need better OP weapons to kill newbees in pub matches...
There should be a contest for low, medium and high SP players... |

I like what CCP is trying to do here in that is trying to get some "new blood" interested in the game.A game without new people will breed stagnation like a cess pool.Smaller corps who have not gotten into PC may like tourneys like these.Also if its single elimination and theres no massive amount of ISK for a small group of guys to rock proto for a whole match.
Regardless if CCP wants to "breath " some life into the game. They should use this or a similar format but give it a SP tier system for say under 5 million sp, 5 to 10 million sp, 10 to 15 etc. I do fail to see the point of wide open tournaments such as these with the intent of generating population in the game if they have to compete with established players such as my self with almost 30 million sp and lots of money that they will simply get there A%$ kicked.
The reason I sugested a SP style bracket is this determines 2 things.1 are you good against people of equal SP? 2 do you have firm grasp of the mechanics.
If they win against people of equal sp then this means that all they have to do is keep playing and theyll get better if they cap every week and skill up.Not please continue to play this game because the guys that came before you need someone to smash on.
For those of you that disagree and say New Eden is dog eat dog. I agree, but they still have to run pubs and If they want to take your corps district then by all means smash them. Letting them be in there own tourney may be that "epic match" that keeps them in the game.
Also a lot of people in this community lack foresight seeing 6 up and coming 'Hungry" dudes win a tourney in the Under 5 million sp or 5 to 10 mill sp bracket might be a good edition to your own corp roster.Instead of bitching about prizes such as low ISk or Items clearly not intended for established players.
If people want to be in these Tournaments and are super competitive. Then play against people of equal sp.The whole thing sounds Like The New York Yankees vs Bills Landscaping Service sponsored Little League.With the Yankess bitching that they only get a new mit out of it. |

The site wants all players to have skype details, but myself and Logibro only want the skype name of the team captains so you can also have your players just input the same skype as the team captain's if it saves time.

This is something I aim to do in the future, but at the moment there isn't an easy way to make sure people are in a certain SP tier besides getting hold of a CCP member and listing every single player from every team and to check what SP they have which takes a long time. |

Due to the number of teams having issues with skype I have removed that requirement for the cup, teams can now signup once their members have their dust character name added
I encourage all team leaders/captains to have a skype account and have it on their ESL profile, this allows myself and CCP Logibro to contact team's if need be and also letting teams contact us if they need help |

Only Europa, North America and Asia?? Come on CCP whats for Central America? I'm from Costa Rica and most of my friends in game are from south Am+¬rica, so whats for us?????????? When will be the tournaments like this One for central and south america?, By the way a guy here said if what you want to do is to bring more New blood to the game what you should do instead of this cup is give proto weapons, proto gear or officer weapons for each consecutive game Day, or give officer weapons if you invite to New players to come to play Dust, I have 42 consecutives game days and I havent received ANYTHING just the 6000 daily SP and I have invite like 4 friends of mine to come to play Dust and now they are in my corp already and I havent received anything eighter... So CCP please, instead of make this tournaments, give proto stuff or officer weapons for each consecutive game days or give proto weapons or proto dropsuits or officer weapons for each invitation to a friend that we make.
Just for example: +3 aceppted invitations= Random proto weapons
+5 accepted invitations= Proto weapons of our preference
+10 accepted invitations= Proto dropsuits of our preference
+15 accepted invitations= Proto officers weapons of our preference
I know it sounds like Facebook games, But its a very good deal, sounds good at least for me, CCP earns more clients, and we earn proto stuff
Or if not at least can you make this kind of tournaments for Central America and south america too? |
