So i was play Faction Warfare, me and a full squad, i was the squad leader.
One of my friends in the squad was dropping eve strikes for us.
He had no mic.
It takes time to travel from system to system so sometimes even if we had an OB we couldn't drop it because he still wasn't there yet.
So I just wanna say, dropping strikes from EVE are very nice. Not only is it really cool, the strikes look better and have more damage and splash radius. and a cooler name.
They would be really awesome for us. They added an awesome feeling to the game. It actually felt like i was apart of the same universe as EVE. I love having EVE support. I don't know what the EVE players get for doing it but they should get something. a few million isk or something? I don't know, but what i do know is
Eve strikes are awesome. |

The concept of them is cool, I still think they are ass in PC in most situations.
The delay between request and strike is too large, and the situation can be largely altered by the time the strike actually lands.
Furthermore, in PC since FF is on it pushes your own team just as far back from the objective as the enemy, making it difficult to cap before they begin re-spawning.
For FW its obviously a lot more viable due to lack of FF. |

Speaking of laser strikes...I want to see a beam laser strike. Something like beams that move across the ground randomly for a few seconds with some aoe damage and will track towards vehicles or enemy installations if they're close enough to a beam. |

Oh CCP has already heard you and have plans on helping alleviate some problems with finding people to blow up on the ground... provided the counter bombardment teams don't make an orbital strikers life hell.
Either way more details when they get around to it as bfor now its on the to do list of things among so many other things.
Meanwhile please post feedback on strikes on the thread that CCP Fox Four posted |

They will get a whole lot more awesome in an update later this year (the most accurate ETA I can give right now).
We want to make it much easier to find opportunities for OB in EVE as well as make it more rewarding. If you were at Fanfest and saw how we ran the combined EVE / DUST tournament you might have an idea of where we are going with it. |

I was, basically the pilots have to play capture the uplink, he who controls the uplink controls how often he can bombard. Fan fest tourney pilots earned a strike every 30 seconds of uncontested control. Squads on the ground still had to pin point the shots and it was a use or lose system.

Another thing that is currently missing but we saw at the Fanfest tournament was the EVE teams shouting out to the DUST teams across the floor. I'm hoping we can make that happen in game by joining the EVE players in to the team comms, because it was pretty cool to listen to that interaction live. |

Currently if an Eve player joins voice it's loud as the absolute dickens (like, RIP headphones loud). Another aspect is that it lags the game out very very badly, so most of us Eve pilots doing orbitals just sit in Dust 514 with comms going through there. |

THAT would be awesome. Tracking might be hard to program and potentially OP, but one that hits a couple dozen meters away from the target, and then sweeps past it in a straight line for the same distance would be pretty sweet. You would probably need to make the beam radius smaller to account for the larger area, of course. |

Ok, so let's say then you do the following changes
1) Remove NPC strike from FW (and of course PC) 2) When connected to district, EVE players are on the Dust team voice channel 3) When connected for a certain amount of time, an orbital is granted. Non-stackable. Timer resets after strike called in.
So then, what happens if you have multiple ships connected to the same district? Do they each have an individual timer, or is it a shared timer?
I can understand how some may think giving them an individual timer could break the game's balance, but then again this isn't just a game about war, it's a game of war. Look, if Amarr has three ships connected to a district and the Minmatar aren't going to do anything to stop it, then the Minmatar on the ground are going to have to pay. That's how it should be. It would drastically increase the importance of EVE support and would strengthen the bond between EVE and Dust players tenfold. |

Or what if you still target the beam strike, and then it moves in a pattern from the origin of the provided coordinates and the same pattern every time so it can be predictable for both the guys calling it in and the enemy to try and dodge. |

If you were at Fanfest and saw how we ran the combined EVE / DUST tournament you might have an idea of where we are going with it. The CCP vision for EVE-side OBs is excellent. I just think it needs an excellent payout (maybe based on the ISK destroyed in DUST) to make it a highly profitable activity. If EVE pilots are payed out in lootable tokens, then you'll have pirates joining in to try to pick off the OB pilots which would be an interesting conflict-driver. |

Gee, maybe when EVE players aren't doing EVERYTHING ELSE in the game they might think an orbital is important.
My point being GÇö until CCP makes planetary conquest an important basis for resource gathering, orbitals are really just a lol pastime. |
