We want to make it much easier to find opportunities for OB in EVE as well as make it more rewarding. If you were at Fanfest and saw how we ran the combined EVE / DUST tournament you might have an idea of where we are going with it. Unfortunately i wasn't at FanFest but thanks for the reply :) I was, basically the pilots have to play capture the uplink, he who controls the uplink controls how often he can bombard. Fan fest tourney pilots earned a strike every 30 seconds of uncontested control. Squads on the ground still had to pin point the shots and it was a use or lose system. Another thing that is currently missing but we saw at the Fanfest tournament was the EVE teams shouting out to the DUST teams across the floor. I'm hoping we can make that happen in game by joining the EVE players in to the team comms, because it was pretty cool to listen to that interaction live. Ok, so let's say then you do the following changes
1) Remove NPC strike from FW (and of course PC) 2) When connected to district, EVE players are on the Dust team voice channel 3) When connected for a certain amount of time, an orbital is granted. Non-stackable. Timer resets after strike called in.
So then, what happens if you have multiple ships connected to the same district? Do they each have an individual timer, or is it a shared timer?
I can understand how some may think giving them an individual timer could break the game's balance, but then again this isn't just a game about war, it's a game of war. Look, if Amarr has three ships connected to a district and the Minmatar aren't going to do anything to stop it, then the Minmatar on the ground are going to have to pay. That's how it should be. It would drastically increase the importance of EVE support and would strengthen the bond between EVE and Dust players tenfold. |

Something like beams that move across the ground randomly for a few seconds with some aoe damage and will track towards vehicles or enemy installations if they're close enough to a beam. THAT would be awesome. Tracking might be hard to program and potentially OP, but one that hits a couple dozen meters away from the target, and then sweeps past it in a straight line for the same distance would be pretty sweet. You would probably need to make the beam radius smaller to account for the larger area, of course. Or what if you still target the beam strike, and then it moves in a pattern from the origin of the provided coordinates and the same pattern every time so it can be predictable for both the guys calling it in and the enemy to try and dodge. |
