Look at the 3 month graph
It seems like the number of players online keeps getting lower and lower. What's going on? Are people giving up on Dust altogether.
This isn't a "Dust is dying" thread. I'm just expressing dismay that this game that I enjoy seems to be slowly bleeding players and am wondering how this game could attract players again.
Also I'll preempt the Grand Theft Auto argument by pointing out that numbers of active players has been decreasing for a while.

Lack of content coupled with a **** poor match maker. They need to put noobs in noob matches and have a sliding scale match maker for everyone over 2M SP. The scale can be anything from 3 to 5M and it should work pretty well, the catch though is you need enough people for this to work which we don't seem to have. *Continues to wait for destiny and hopes this game gets better* |

Everyone I talked to who has quit Dust or is thinking about quitting Dust isn't doing so because it is hard to join a squad or because the state of vehicles isn't perfect, rather they quit or are quitting because there has been no new content for several months and a lot of the content they paraded around with appears to be trapped in a void. |

Personally I think the match making has improved. Though on the oceanic server where the population is small you can still get some odd match ups. |

Why don't you look at the one year graph at the player count we had before release (yanno, beta).

Yeah it is better, I still get matches were there are new guys on both teams that get wrecked though. I don't think this should happen in a game where we need to keep new guys playing. Yes, the matches are more even. But generally its one good high level squad on either team and a bunch of new guys that get face ****** as well. This shouldn't happen. |

AV is OP, cheap and keeps being buffed Vehicles are UP and too expensive to use ( fixed was 1.5 then 1.6 then 1.7 and to be honest I ccb with CCP) Nerf hammers and no new content No re-spec (optional, global or a store system) Decision don't matter when things get nerfed every month PC seems to be broken due to several factors No old contracts that allowed for player run tournaments and not the disgrace we had with Urgent Fury
The list can go on but w/e... |

It would be interesting (but unlikely) if CCP were to talk about what types are players are staying, and which ones are leaving.
Personally I think PVE would be a massive boost to this game, as it would give players a break from being pub stomped, and could match them up against appropriate level AI. |

I mean **** me finding a squad is the easiest thing in the world, doing things in corp are ******* easy too. Why the hell can't CCP realise there are something we can make do with and some we cant make do without.
A ******* squad finder, some damn corp roles are the last things players want or need. |

Long story short, the game gets stale after a while. Add that to a flawed system that limits how much you want to play on a weekly basis, how ADHD the console FPS market can be and you get what we have right now. |

Wasn't it that while it was still summer people were saying "it's summer vacation, everyone's away from home" or something along those lines?
Anyways, the fact that we now are seeing less people only a few months after release than we had during beta says something, and it's not good.
And yes, this is indeed lower playercount, I kept track during the first couple months of the peak playerbase every day until I stopped caring.
The average peak for the 8 days prior to release was 4138 people with the lowest playercount being 3796 and the highest being 4291.
The average playercount for the 8 days following the release was 7456 with the lowest playercount being 5396, and the highest being 9255.
Today saw 3455... |

I think the best solution is to give us PvE... Why? The newbies can practice their gun game without losing their patience everytime they get killed by some OP weapon ( what's the OP weapon now again ? I mean this month OP weapon ... huehuehue)

There are a couple possible reasons for the lower player count.
1) People are playing for shorter periods. (which is me) 2) People aren't playing Dust514 anymore
Are there any others I haven't thought of? |

Hey, you said possible reasons, not probable. Also
4) It is not the Summer anymore |

There are Open Betas that are free the same as Dust 514 and folks are playing those/will play those soon?

Because console players are fickle, they are accustomed to PvE games or games that have a short shelf life until the next version is released so they can start from scratch again. PC players have more patience and understand the development cycle of MMO's and how a game evolves over time.
Console Gamers = Want everything now so they can move onto the next thing. PC Gamers = Want iterative releases to keep them loyal. |

Rubbish... PC MMO's have constant expansion packs to keep people interested. Most MMO's i play in the PC have tones of new content release every couple of months, and a constant stream of cosmetics and extras nearly every week. |

I'm a PC gamer, and I like having a reasonably finished product on release. Dust is about two years away from that point. |

Well it looks like its a 1.6 GB download for the Beta that I am going to try out so hopefully later Today or if not then on October 4th I get to try placeing some demolitions charges on the underside of a street to drop a rolling tank into an unplanned sewer trip lol. |
