I was sitting around going through dozens of names in my head. I knew I wanted my first name to be something indicative of me, and no traditional first name was cutting it. To that I took up Aero as I do intend to fly Amarr dropships as my main focus when they come. With my first name chosen, on began the task of sounding out random syllables until I came up with a family name that sounded good when combined with "Aero." I came up with Yassavi, which I pronounce yas-a-vI, not yas-sav-vi as a few have called me.
Anyways, fun fact: It turns out Yassavi Family is an actual corporation in EVE in Imperial space, so that was a pleasant surprise for my role play. Regarding my first name and role play, I am still not sure if I want it to be my birth name given to me by my father or a nickname I have came to be known by early in childhood - leaning towards the latter.

Monkey was a name awarded to me on at least 3 seperate occasions. My surname is long, and often a nuisance to shout when want my attention!
The first was during a paintballing tournament, we played in highly wooded area's with wooden structures. I quickly learnt the name monkey, because of my traversal of the environment. I'd swing from branches, leap waist high walls, and sprint on all 4s. The name was also my curse, towards the end of the day, I barrelled into a tree and dislocated my shoulder.
The second was from my Squadron Leader when I attended the Cadets, he called monkey because of the speed and dexterity I could use when using a rifle, apparently! Never really got that 1, he might have been trying to be deregotary.
The third was when I started university, I memorizied the lahout of the buildings and was able to flit across campus extremly fast.
The name stuck and now even introduce myself as Monkey to real world people (in social environment anyway) MAC is just an abbreviation of my real world surname. |

I keep seeing interesting names, names that strike my funny bone, names that nag at my brain as though I know them already, names ironically unsuited to the player, and those all too fitting. My point is, some names beg to be explained and I think some people would love to tell the story of naming their character too. So throw your name and reasoning out there (and wait for the trolls to descend).
To kick it of: I am Lanius Pulvis because initially I wanted to name myself Lanius Excubitor after the Northern Shrike. For those not familiar, the Northern Shrike is a robin sized sub-arctic song bird native to Canada that winters in the U.S. It's the only song bird known to regularly hunt vertebrates. When it wants to store food it impales it's catch on thorn bushes to eat at it's leisure.
I had hoped my new DS pilot would grow to be worthy of this name and association, alas it was not to be...the name was taken (D*** YOU LANIUS EXCUBITOR). I searched for another name to aspire to as a ground attack pilot, but everything was taken.
Then I had an epiphany, the scientists who discover animals make it up, why can't I... And thus I took Lanius (the Shrike family name) and added Pulvis (Latin for dust). And so the DUST Shrike was born...(cue triumphal music)...
Anyone else have a story to share? I figured i saved the galaxy 3 times so i came here to kick back and relax! so i named it after my character Commander Rei Shepard in Mass Effect 1, 2 & 3, so my name is appropriate for the setting :p Besides, i kick as much *ss like i did there, except when there are 2 full squads on the field, then its pretty even :) /pats KBM..good controls, yesssh you are :) OUCH they bit me ....BAD CONTROLS ..BADDD!! I never had the guts to mess with ME cannon, all of my shepard are John.... I also have never finished the trilogy play through because I can never decide how I wish to play shepard when it comes to romance options.... I never know which will make the more poignant story line.
The best voice overs & reactions are from the female shepard, you are missing out man and since i am a guy playing a female i skipped all of them and had no relations with any of the characters, including the females, saving the galaxy is enough to deal with :p
I did make everyone my best friend in the game by just playing as if it was me standing there making thecommand choice when i would be saving the galaxy, so when it came down to making sacrifices it came down to what would be the most logical choice and not a moral one, if a good guy had to die to save my friend, i would not hesitate, as we would in RL.
Friend of mine played it out with always picking blue, i mean ...what choices are you making then ? Zip, nada, nothing.
Great Game, i am still saving the expansions to go back one time to be Rei Shepard for the last time. |

I had to come up with a nickname for Milsim/Airsoft activities.
So I 50% mixed the french words "Anarchie" (Anarchy) and "Arachide" (Peanut) for humorous intent.
It turns out to give a word like "Pesticide". Etymologically, I like the concept, so I stuck with it (Even if "Killing Anarchy" is quite the opposite of what I usually do).
It's pronounced "Ann-R-Sheed", but a lot of people says "Ann-R-Kid"; which I find equally cool.
Pick whichever you like, I won't mind! |

How i got my name
Started with EvE i needed a new name somthing to use forever. I rememberd the names of my friends from my last game (runescape...) and i always liked the name Trickster however this was taken it was to simple. So i looked around the room at objects and games to get a first name for my last name. I found the most inspiring item ever. A box. and thus 'Box Trickster' was born.
Without bringing up all my alts, Hexen was basically made when i needed a name for dust and i just finished my IT class where we learnt.. hexadecimal. So i made Hex trickster. However i stuffed that one up (its now a dedicated novaknifer no other skills) and i made Hexen Trickster, Killer of worlds. Sadly for some reason it doesnt show the killer of worlds bit.
As for my corp name.. well thats another story for another day |

My name was the name of a project I developed in a psychology course exploring the numerical expression of humam thought, it was meant to express the posited existence of an intangible code to human expression. As such, I stylized it as the soul code, or ghost code, for the purposes of referencing it in the project.
I liked the name and use it for video game handles now... with Zeros instead of Os for a coding allusion.... and to be Ub3r 1337. xP |

"Loaded Horn" was painted on the end of our M1 abrams 105mm. Sounded scary, and was quite fitting. You do not want to be in front of that thing ever. I thought of the name and it was agreed to be stenciled on. Coincidentally it is also is the term for the horn tweeters in my Klipsch Epic CF3 speakers. Fully loaded horns. I am a big fan of audio gear. The dang caps is the only way it would let me submit the name when created. |

Demon of Despair. Centamot has no shape that can be compared to human. It could be said that he shows himself as a mass of black oil that collects and cogulates into a form with which the magician may converse. At other times it may seem that there is a shadow darker than the night that stands embodied within the triangle. Centamot is a wicked Demon that thrusts men into darkness and evil. Under his influence, the most righteous man will commit every sin imaginable, and will forsake his own soul to outer darkness. Centamot takes great care pleasure in this sadistic work. |

"Arx" is Latin for "citadel," particularly the one in Rome itself. The Amarr have some Romanish elements to their character, though not as much as they used to.
"Ardashir" I took from an ancient Persian king, because the Amarr have a Persian-ish scheme to their naming. It also means "he who rules through truth," in Middle Persian.
Hence, I am the fortress of he/she who rules through truth! Quite a fitting name for an Amarrian loyalist, I must say ;)

DisgruntleDevil came from my time in the Marine Corps. "Devil" from Devil Dogs, and Disgruntled because, well, I don't know too many Marines that aren't. They didn't put us in the shi11yist barracks, pay us crap, and make us do stupid shi1 all the time to make us caring, compassionate human beings. |

The name stuck and I like it so I gave it a bit of a 'roman' feel when making this dust nick as it is a foot soldier. |
