Imagine. There you are in the middle of a WAARGH Billions of Orks attacking your fortress monestary, a massive bastion layered with guns and artillery, you fire one insignificant shell, yet it fails at the outer shielding, falling back towards the weak rock base, burrowing through hundreds of meters of rock and cement to detonate your chapters arms stores wiping out 90% of your chapter (900 Marines and geneseed) and then your Chapter master is all "**** this ****" and leads a ten year siege of New Rynn City to victory.

Well hopefully with a more stable geneseed they stopped tattooing their asses with the symbol of a fist.....I like the imperial fists but that never sat right with me Pedro Kantor is a nice looking Minnie though.

Hello everyone, there may have already been a thread on this topic, but I couldn't find it. I keep seeing interesting names, names that strike my funny bone, names that nag at my brain as though I know them already, names ironically unsuited to the player, and those all too fitting. My point is, some names beg to be explained and I think some people would love to tell the story of naming their character too. So throw your name and reasoning out there (and wait for the trolls to descend).

To kick it of: I am Lanius Pulvis because initially I wanted to name myself Lanius Excubitor after the Northern Shrike. For those not familiar, the Northern Shrike is a robin sized sub-arctic song bird native to Canada that winters in the U.S. It's the only song bird known to regularly hunt vertebrates. When it wants to store food it impales it's catch on thorn bushes to eat at it's leisure.

I had hoped my new DS pilot would grow to be worthy of this name and association, alas it was not to be...the name was taken (D*** YOU LANIUS EXCUBITOR). I searched for another name to aspire to as a ground attack pilot, but everything was taken.

Then I had an epiphany, the scientists who discover animals make it up, why can't I... And thus I took Lanius (the Shrike family name) and added Pulvis (Latin for dust). And so the DUST Shrike was born...(cue triumphal music)...

Anyone else have a story to share?

I figured i saved the galaxy 3 times so i came here to kick back and relax! so i named it after my character Commander Rei Shepard in Mass Effect 1, 2 & 3, so my name is appropriate for the setting :p

Besides, i kick as much *ss like i did there, except when there are 2 full squads on the field, then its pretty even :) /pats KBM..good controls, yesssh you are :)
