Functions quite well---when everyone is getting along.
NDAA is the National Defense Authorization Act. If you're familiar with the Patriot Act, this is its younger brother, who's hopped up on crystal meth and steroids, while stealing money outta mom's purse while patrolling the house with a mini gun.

The NDAA stands for "National Defense Authorization Act" and basically entails what the countries budget is for military spending along with a host of other things. None more notorious than the clause on Indefinite Detention without due process (meaning you don't get a lawyer and there is no court and they can keep you as long as they please) for anyone suspected of association with a terrorist cell.
This is vague as the dickens and so over-broad that it basically entitles everyone, including American citizens. A teenage girl actually was arrested for a science project under this kind of gross circumstance. It's been the topic of much debate because of it's controversy for a good while now and that, coupled with the National Security Agency collecting cell-phone data and linking social networks (not just facebook, legitimate real-life friendships) to every person under the pretense they -MIGHT- be associated with a terrorist cell.
It's definitely been a major hit to our civil liberties and has even inspired some live events in Dust 514 |

Actually, no States have ever seceded because it is unconstitutional. The constitutional basis of secession was resolved during the civil war. You guys lost so face the facts. There is no right to secede, as the Pledge of Allegiance clearly illustrates through the line GÇ£one nation, indivisible.GÇ¥

I was wondering where you found the information or even how this related to this NDAA you're talking about ?
I don't know anything about it, but from what people are saying it's more to do with control over military budget and powers to detain ... unless there's been some case of this budget being spent on illegal weaponry I don't understand how this event could have been inspired by this NDAA you're talking about. |

Focusing on the wrong part of the live event. It was the fact that it was controversial, against civil liberties etc. Also the bit on the hacktivist group is grounds for a good chuckle (anonymous) |

Actually, last year was about the debt ceiling. The Republican's threw a fit and refused to pay the bills so the United States lost its AAA credit rating. The government was not shut down though. This is the first time it has been shut down since Clinton was in office, which is two decades. Ironically enough last time it got shut down a bunch of Republicans were throwing a hissy fit too. Which in turn lead to an all Democratic Congress the following election because people got pissed off.
I predict the same this time around. Kamikaze missions rarely turn out well and that is what the GOP is doing by holding America hostage. |

Actually about two dozen states had systems like this, subsidised bare-bone insurances paid for by taxing usage of medical services, and it worked great. But now the patient affordable care act came into and dismantled most if those for a ****** exchange system based upon forcing people to carry insurance that in most cases (regarding the people this plan was designed to help) not being able to still afford it, so they'll be heavily taxed instead. |
