If DUST 514 follows EVE-O, then they should be giving out anniversary packs usually filled with bits of garbage and a piece of "ooooooh shiney!" not normally attainable. |

The business tactic is great. Getting previous players to return is really great. Offering them items that current players can't get is the issue.
This is exactly what I meant.
I have no problem with CCP offering cool stuff to get new players and convince vets to return. I do want a higher player count just like everyone else.
My issue was, at the time of my post, there was no way for a current player to acquire these suits. Its all well and good to try to bring up the player count but there should also be a focus on those players that are currently playing the game to keep them. Some of us may not have defected to GTA or FF but there will be plenty of games coming out (and a couple new systems). What good is getting people to come back if the ones here leave? |

Already have this in place with sp rewards for those that are dedicated. and the sp is worth more than some gimmick suits that will never win you a competitive match. Also, they implemented that reward for dedication before this. props to them. |

Again, you are missing the point.
Part 1 - To attract new players and bring back old players, I like this promotion and think it will be effective for those that had left the game in hopes that it would get better down the road.
Part 2 - I personally feel that the event rewards (other than SP) that CCP has given out since Uprising have been a joke. People use maybe 20% of it and they could easily buy them on the market. Back in Beta, I made sure to try to get into Events so that I could get the suits like the Black Eagle. Now, I could care less about the events.
Prior to Mintchips post, what was there that would have led me to believe that vanity suits would be offered as a reward for events in the future?

You assume i missed the point. I agreed with the point in a previous post. Regardless of which you yourself point out the sp reward and try to dismiss it (1) somewhat when it reality that's the key to this along with your admission which should have deflated your gripe in underline 2. |

Yes, I thought this would be brought up. It is a nice reward and as you stated much more useful than short term burnable bling. However, with that said what I was trying to express is that in my opinion if you want to grow and maintain a user base than it is important to work all ends of the customer base. The daily bonus is one way to do this but you can further enchance this by setting certain longer term timeline goals. The proverbial carrot and all that just a longer term one than the daily bonus. |

Oh boy this is not a good sign this early into a games release. Maybe they are looking to drum up more noob #'s in order to test 1.5's new training thing. Actually, if I put my business hat on, they want to see if the current state of the game can keep people who have been away a while (missing a few updates) playing. Basically, it looks like a "let's see how far we've come" question.
Not far... and they have to go still a long way before they even bother with questions like that. |

Yeah, up to 1 & 1/5th ambush matches worth of SP a day is extremely useful.... to new people. To the rest it's just a drop in the ocean when it can take more than a month to bump one skill up one level. I'd rather have the free suits. |

Would be one thing if it was the Black Eagle Scout and the Quafe Scout but... Quafe Assault is a little screwy considering none of us have ever received it before and it didn't even exist save for Datamining up until this point.
Bad move CCP. Should have gone with the Quafe Scout. Not fair to your loyal playerbase to not have the opportunity to get something new first and foremost over those that quit. |

if you're running boosters only the last level of skills higher than 5x take more than like 10 days. which is like 5% maybe of all skills. I can make about 600k boosted in a week just from capping. that's enough to max sharpshooter from 4-5, lvl 3 levels of scanner, or any number of other things. |

How can you not get this, dude?
For doing diddly squat, Jimmy gets something that kick's ass (scout suit w/ 2 light weapons slots), and that you CAN'T buy no matter how much ISK you have (and can one day probably be sold for 10s of millions per suit)
For busting your ass and sticking with a game that's a serious kick in the nuts on a daily basis, you get.... nothing
Too complex?
How about this: Jimmy get's a Ferrari and you get a nice big glass of shut the hell up.

How much time did you spend for your rewards?
Now, how much time did the in-actives spend for theirs.....?
Uh, huh.... not that damn even.

Originally i was simply dismissing you for insinuating people that have been here all along might leave because of CCP trying this out, as if they are taking away something from them that they had.
Anything that I say is my personal belief only and I am not going to make any insinuations as to what anyone else will do.
These are my personal feelings about the current situation - SP Events are good things to have now and again to allow people to push for that skill that they really want - Item Events have been boring because I either dont want the items or can easily buy them in the market - Offering items to people who have left the game that people in the game want (which I can infer from based on the responses to his thread) is something that I believe is not fair to those that actually play the game. You never know what will be the 'last straw' for someone to leave the game. |

They're trying to promote the game and improve player counts. If DUST doesn't get more players you won't have DUST at all. Bottom line. Shut up and be glad CCP are trying to tempt people to coming back to play. |
