I believe as a scouting tool it should be for scouts. It creats a role for a class that atm doesnt really have one. |

How about a scout's vision gets shared with the squad (but no one else's is squad-shared)? This would also help snipers, not just scouts that are within 100-200 meters of the enemy.
I don't think limiting specific equipment to a particular suit class is a good idea. |

Class specific tools are not totally bad. Imagine s scout running around with a forge gun. Some things are essential to create a purpose for each suit. I do like scouts sharing vision though. |

I agree. This would be better for scouts and I don't mind other classes using scanners.
However, some equipment needs to be class limited. We don't need Invisi-Assault Logis. |

How about this: Scouts get a CPU/PG reduction for fitting any and all EWAR equipment, modules and weapons. |

I say no to that... but, I would like to give scouts a special Sniper rifle class, that is also a long range scanner, with narrow angle (scope view mainly) and has a cooldown like all scanners do. This rifle should be a scout only rifle. It would give snipers a role as recon for squads. Alternatively make long range recon scanner... like 3-¦ field of view with scope with 300m range, that has no sweeping capabilities (no ballerina spins to cover the whole map....) Just to pick on hotspots in the field...

And why would a scanner be incompatible with a logistics suit for example? Why do you want to limit what other suits can use? It doesn't make sense. Too many people don't seem to understand the fitting system. The idea is, that you can play how you want. A sniper with a heavy suit? No problem. A healing assault? Go ahead. A medic who can also resupply your armor? No problem! Yet so many people want to have normal classes like in every other game. |

I don't agree with restricting one equipment piece to 1 class.
Hopefully when they do away with suit tiers and bring in real roles, the scout will find its home, saboteur, infiltrator, assassin. But if anything a scout should have a buillt in scanner on his suit, passive with a 50m radius. |

50 is too much since we have range extenders in the game. Imagine a proto gal scout with 4 range extenders (esp. if we got shared squad vision back for scouts). Nothing would be able to hide from it. 20-25 should be just about right. |

I think that suits can have bonuses to encourage roles. Scouts could get a bonus to scanner fitting, range, target painting duration or sensitivity.
I think some suits may lack the resources to handle roles. Light and medium frames just can't handle heavy weapons because they are not able to support their weight.
DUST isn't about enforcing roles or classes. Its about letting the players create innovative fittings. If one suit is all-around better than the others then the others are lacking benefits. Logistics are very flexible right now. Assaults need a bit more benefit for damage projection. Scouts are fast and stealthy but could use a bump to let them shine a bit more. |

I'm just trying to give a role to a class that has no meaning. What more than making scouting tools for scouts can u come up with that is more legitimate? |

* Decrease our scan profile from 45 to 40 db * Add an extra equipment slot * Increase scan range from 10m to 20m * Decrease our scan precision to 40 db * Increase base speed * Give us a bit more CPU/PG * Allow scouts to share enemy locations
* Change ADV Gal Scout from 2H/2L to 1H/3L
* Begin adding actual E-War equipment & Stealth
The top group would make scouts do very well at their intended roles without limiting the other classes. The gal scout change is something that would allow the gal scout to play more like a gal scout. And the last point is what CCP needs to do in the future to expand on the scout role. |

I can agree with all this. And I agree that limiting equipment isnt the best idea. But its likely scouts will remain laughable at best for a long time.

I'd like to see scouts with roles such as:
Sabotage: This scout as an intelligent one, who should have been in the world of engineering, but like death too much. Sabotage equipment: Hack enemy nanohive so that they either turn blue, or explode when a red tries to use it, Hack enemy uplinks to become blue. Hack red installation turrets, to appear safe to the enemy, but actually by hostile for them. Hack enemy corpses for intel, enemy position etc.
Infiltrator: Very very low scan profile, main role is to get into enemy line, finding locations, setting up traps, trip wires, small mines, remotes. With the abitily to place invisible uplinks, which should be tied soley to his role.
Assassin Complete with extra speed, stamina, and damage. The assassin relies on his cloaking abilities to breach enemy line, removing straglers with suprise attacks, Using knives, cqc weapons and smoke grenades, his speciallity. Burst attack, moments of chaos, then retreats to prepare for next attack.

There is still the point of not getting WP's for passive scans if that get sorted this could work.
Or you could give scouts a build in active scan (with the same stats of the passive one affected by skills and modules) that can be activated via the equipment wheel... |

I've said it for the longest time.
Give scouts an extra equipment slot at ADV level. Make scout suits get +10% PG/CPU across the board. Scout skill: -10% scanner fitting cost per level.
Scouts then can fit 2 scanners for the price of 1 if they want, or run scanner + equipment with a net fitting loss, but significantly more utility in battle, without the survivability of logistics. If they don't care to use either equipment slot, then they can be a bit more versitile with their tank/stealth/speed mods. |

Scouts shouldn't need a scanner though. If scouts get an increased passive range and the ability to share enemy locations to squad members, scouts can scout just using passive and some range extenders (Gal scouts could do it better which makes their bonus truly useful). This is more true to the scout philosophy of being stealthy (and therefore allows the scout to do their job more safely). |

by saying that, then the nano hives, reppers, injectors should only be logi class equipment and can only be equipped by logi suits. and shouldn't be used by other suits. |

hives and needles aren't limited to logi's I see no good reason to limit the scanner to scouts. if scouts got a bonus to their use that'd be fine and I'd support it. |

Great ideas everyone. I was just hoping to spark up some ideas that would help give scouts their place in the universe. When I run scout in pc I just feel like I dont have a purpose other than sneaking up behind someone and shooting them in the back. With the way suits are set up now anybody can do that. |

This.
The tac-net changes were a buff to scouting but not scouts, because scouts don't really have much going on for them in terms of scouting ability. It's personally benefited me, because I always played a 'stealth recon' scout - but as someone else said, it was more of a stick rather than carrot. We need some carrots.
Restricting scanners to scouts is just another big stick. |
