When I sit idle in my tank for five minutes, that should be a sign that you're not wanted, not to switch guns so you can see better. I would like to recall my tank, however I can't do that when you're sitting there. Please gtfo of my tank.

While I understand the pain of idiots being in your vehicle while wishing to recall, could tankers try not to purposely run into blue LAVs...
Sorry, I had to go back behind the redline to change suits cause someone blew up my supply depots, could you choose to swerve not into me? I love more vehicles to blue tanks running right into me than enemy fire. |

Good point. My proto scout fit has 180 ehp. So a coffin is a little better than running around in a tissue diaper. |

so i am guessing you dont want them poaching your kills.
second thought, are you really helping your team if you sit idle and do you even care. just drive on man. a good tanker will not have to worry about some blueberry stealing their kills. Personally I will not get in a tank unless I know the tanker. There are lots of tankers that just plain ole suck so I would rather hoof it.

Maybe some people dont like there kills being stolen, i dunno
but its generally a pain when you want to recall your tank, maybe av's a little to much, or you just want to swap fits or turrets, and the blue just wont move, they sit there the whole match sometimes just fireing at the floor and walls and nothing,,,,,
and if you you do just lump it and drive around with some tard fireing at nothing, its off putting, the constant noise of the other turret, the blue shield flash when they fire at floor, i always feel like i want to turn around to see what they are fireing at just incase a red is there is there, then low and behold... nothing
once in a blue moon you will get a sound gunner, that will watch your six and actually fire at reds, and its pretty cool and a good help when they do, but its also very rare

You do realize, I am bigger than you. And when I need to get out, and you happen to be in my way, I ram you. More often than not, it is the blue Lav that rams me, not the other way around. Except for that one blue dot shooting the turret at my friendly tank bud, I squished you on purpose! |

I used to hop in blue tanks. I'd get on the turret and watch the rear/anywhere the main gun wasn't pointed. I would use a quick burst of my gun to notify the driver of any enemies I felt he might not have noticed, and if the driver wasn't worried about it, I wouldn't worry either (unless of course I had a realistic chance to kill the red, then I would attempt a kill). I tried to avoid shooting at anything the main gun was shooting at, didn't wanna kill steal, the vehicle assists were more than enough for me. If we cleared an objective I would immediately hop out to hack. If there was a serious threat to the tank (a dude with a swarm or a couple of dudes with AV nades) that the tank was unable to deal with, I would immediately hop out and attempt to deal with the threat or at least buy time to let the tank escape.
Then I started noticing tanks blowing up yellow supply depots and turrets (turrets are whatever, but really? You are blowing up supply depots?! I know why y'all do it but come on. Give me a shot at defending it first), even if they were a quarter inch over our red line. I started getting hit from behind and pushed forward 30 to 100 meters into a blob of reds (and swiftly killed) by a blue tank who could have easily taken a half second 50 meters back to let me get off his bumper. I started noticing blue tanks sitting waaaaaaay behind our red line on a mountain for the whole match because "I'm a Rail Sniper", only to get 2-4 kills the whole match ("I didn't lose my tank though" says John Q Tanker). And I started noticing how much QQing tankers do on the forums because, when you boil it down, they refuse to work with infantry or gunners and usually pay the price for it.
So I steer clear of blue tanks now a days, and rarely will I put my neck on the line for a blue tank. You guys got it under control by yourselves? Well then by all means, go for it. Once that single guy with Swarms or AVs chases you off or kills you, then I can jump in without fear of being run over and actually do something productive for the team.
I realize many tankers are fairly competent, and most of what I said only applies to a small few. But tankers need to realize many ground troops are fairly competent, and most of what what tankers say only applies to a small few. I know there are bad apples on both sides of this discussion making life crappy for drivers and footies, but life would be easier for everyone if we would all work together, and that responsibility falls on the shoulders of both sides equally. And I do fully understand that your (tankers) costs to run equipment are 1000 times greater than my costs (infantry). Help me help you! I don't even want to be in a tank now a days, but if I run into a good tanker I will stick to him like glue and make sure those naughty Swarms/AVs don't have free reign over my big buddy. Just don't run me over! And let me try to defend/take supply depots from time to time. I kinda need those.
And just in case any tankers read this and only want to acknowledge my 2nd and 3rd paragraphs: I apologize for offending you. Go ahead and play superman, just keep your QQing to yourself and remember, I am far more survivable alone on foot than you are alone in your metal coffin |

Lol, while your numbers are exaggerated (just a bit) I will give you there are way more ****** infantry than there are ****** tankers, but only cause there is way more infantry than tankers.
So I offer a compromise. Over the next week or so I will do my best to help blue tanks, so long as they are at least attempting to be productive and letting me get off the bumper if they hit me (it happens, I know, just let me get off). All I ask is that you blue tanks at least look at who all is on your team, and if it looks like you have a strong squad or two, give them a chance to work on some of the supply depots. Those things can be crucial. And if you hit someone, let them get off your bumper (unless you got a bunch of swarms launched and heading your way, in that case I do understand. It's getting pushed forward as tanks are attacking that is really irking foot soldiers).
Unfortunately I can only speak for myself on this compromise. Hopefully any infantry players reading this thread will follow suit.
We can start there and see what happens. If we can get some trust built back up between tanks and foots and get us all working together, we could do some amazing stuff. |

Any halfway decent vehicle pilot understands that you MUST destroy all turrets and supply depots that you can in order to have even a chance to stay alive. Bluedots don't man the things, and if they exist, they will get hacked back and forth throughout the match... and they destroy vehicles with their perfect AI Aim in a matter of seconds.
If you don't go out and destroy them all, you might as well just recall your vehicle.

Like I said, turrets are whatever. A blaster turret can be pretty helpful at times, but it doesn't really matter (to me at least) whether it's there or not. Supply Depots, however, are pretty important to the dudes on the ground, and Supply Depots can help us help you. Look, if the Depot is under the damn red MCC, take it out. If it's 50 meters from the blue MCC, don't get your panties in a bunch and hold on for a second. If the Depot is in the middle of the map by an objective that blues are pushing on and getting ready to take, hold the **** on. Give us a chance. If there aren't any Depots for me to change my fit, i'm gonna run what helps me survive, not what may help a tank.
If tankers don't wanna try and work with infantry, it's no skin off my balls. I can just go back to ignoring blue tanks all together and reading the QQ threads about 1 tank not being able to win a match all by itself. |

i did come up with a solution(hope CCP will introduce) if you call a vehicle you can recall even if there is a blue dot in it(paralyses the vehicle when recalling) so drivers never have to put up with stolen rides |

A tank for no reason whatsoever decided to leave C just as I was getting there. He had more than 3/4 shield and full armor. He turned hard out of nowhere (there was no AVers anywhere), catching me in front of his tank. He proceeded to drag me all the way to D.
I noticed there was a guy hacking the CRU, when I got there, so I figured I may as well deal with it. I killed the guy, and began Hacking the CRU back. The tanker drives off, leaving me alone, then a Proto Heavy spawns in behind me with a Boundless. I'm sure you can guess how that ended...

I understand the gunner scenario, and i'm all for locks/eject buttons, whichever would be the best fit for Dust. The Supply Depot and tank pushing infantry issue are the problems foot soldiers have with tanks, and I wouldn't be surprised if a handful of gunner issues were disgruntled infantry trying to get revenge on tanks in general.
If locks were introduced and the gunner issue solved, tanks are still taking out Depots and pushing infantry. I don't want your tank, if your killing my Depots and pushing me around the map you are a liability to me as a foot soldier, and the sooner the reds kill you off, the better it is for me.

Normally I leave it to the tank driver -
But having said that you do realise tanks do this to infantry all the time - never mind how you go and gain hundreds of warpoints doing this, basically (at start of match) at no risk.

Sorry, I had to go back behind the redline to change suits cause someone blew up my supply depots, could you choose to swerve not into me? I love more vehicles to blue tanks running right into me than enemy fire. If we can get some trust built back up between tanks and foots and get us all working together, we could do some amazing stuff. if there were more ppl like you who would actually help the tank, then yeah we would trust you guys with the supply depots and we would support our teams in confidence that our tank crews are helping us help the team. But, almost no one is willing to do this, they would rather sit in our tanks and refuse to leave, they are doing the oppisite of being usefull, they are cuasing us to loose our tank or forcing us to keep our rail out when all the enemys decided to move to the city. If there were more ppl like you we could all benifit but its liteerally you vs everyone else. Regardless of my quips, I totally understand where you drivers are coming from, be it HAVs or Derps. You guys are taking a massive monetary risk every time you call in your ride. I can't really get down on any tanker for saying anything with any attitude because you guys do get royally screwed a lot. Also, while I do feel for you, I want us to work together more for the reason it makes my life easier ;-).
I admire and envy tankers in a way. You guys are a community within a community. Your like a Brotherhood. If 2 experienced tankers who don't know each other meet, from what I've seen they almost always hit it off and start jabbering about tank nonsense that flies right over my head. A good tanker CAN win a battle all by his/her self, though not necessarily directly. The new bridge Ambush map is a great example of this.
Unfortunately I am a pure Assault. Not really sure if we are considered to have our own "community", but if we do it's nothing like what you tankers have. Add that to the fact that I have only 2 months under my belt and absolutely zero clout within the community and you can plainly see there is really nothing I or most foot soldiers could do to turn around the infantry communities behavior at large. I would love to help, but once again the burden and risk falls on the shoulders of tankers. I would recommend maybe a thread for tankers to acknowledge to each other (not the Dust community at large) who is a trustworthy foot soldier and who is not. This would be for no one but yourselves and I would recommend you keep it out of sight from most to avoid inevitable trolling.
I hate that it has come to this, but to be brutally honest, infantry needs you guys waaaaaay less than you need them (for the most part, but not always). I am not at all saying suck it up and deal with it, i'm saying the foot soldier community in general is not going to stop actin' a fool, so y'all gotta deal with the problems internally. And unfortunately if things just stay as they are, you guys are getting hurt way more than us.

It just makes the game more tactical and forces infaintry to pull out AV. Tho tanks do pindown objectives, so they have a purpose. Oh y'all are needed, for sure. I think part of the issue is infantry can more or less get by for the most part without tanks, so they just do, not realizing what they could have. I've had the treat of running with a tank and LLAV pairing and I was damn near invincible, and so was the tank and LLAV. It sucks I can only get that by squading up, and even then it isn't super common. With even more vehicles supposedly coming, i'm worried pubs are going to become a cluster **** of aircraft, ground vehicles, and infantry zooming around crashing into each other, running each other over, stealing vehicles, and letting each other die.
Or
If we could all learn to love each other (in a strictly sexual way), we could have a bad ass Warfare Simulator. But the hate seems to run deep on both sides, hopefully that can be changed.
