Just please. Yeah, console gamers don't have the patience to pay attention to in-depth stats like these in our games. Something so complex would only happen in a PC game. correction: I take it you didn't click my links, then? Or at best, you failed to work out what I meant by them.
no, I didn't click on the links.
the issue is about M/KB vs Controller, nothing else matters in that sense. |

That statement is untrue, as someone who plays mainly PC fps's I use nothing BUT a gamepad, iv played in PC tourneys with gamepads and came in high standings. It seems only console players need aim assist because they've been babied their whole gaming life by aim assist.
In short, console players, get good, CCP remove aim assist and console babies, stop propagating kb/m is better than a gamepad, nether are better, both can be used equally well by those skilled in their prefered imput device.
Also CCP, since turn rates out the window, give both kb/m AND gamepads raw imput. It's a console game, therefore they shouldn't be catering to KBM users. KBM users complain about the DS3 aim assist, when it's in MOST other console shooters. It's on the PS3 not the PC. KBM users should be grateful that they can even use their KB on this game. Selfish, Selfish Selfish I mostly play PS3 games because my laptop is barely running WinXP right now and doesn't really do gaming. I don't like the aim assist in DUST either. What's your excuse for the many people like me who are console gamers who don't like what CCP have done with their aim assist? Most console shooters have aim assist, but often it's only the kind CCP refer to as "aim friction", which has been present for ages, never got turned off, and isn't connected with the aim assist on/off toggle in the options menu.
Then turn aim assist off... If the majority of people give some valid reasons why the aim assist should be tweaked then that's on CCP to finish the job off.
I, however, haven't gotten my hands on 1.4 yet. So I can't REALLY tell you my thoughts on aim assist until then. |

It means that the complaints about it being a "crutch" are legitimate (if exaggerated) and toning it down would help make it less so.
I already have it off, and only turn it on occasionally in order to test things. I'm still not sure of all the intricacies of the system, how to exploit it (if possible) and how to make it either stop responding or do crazy things while it's supposed to be active. I've heard people reporting results I haven't been able to either reproduce or find a clear explanation for yet, and I want to try and do so before I make a final decision on the state of AA. My current "too strong, needs reduction" conclusion isn't necessarily what I'll be going with long-term. |

the aim assist is a good thing, but only because they actually fixed the hit detection and shot registration, without those, aim assist wouldn't be worth what it is. before 1.4 hit detection and shot registration were horrible so even if you have pinpoint accuracy, you would still kill them at a slower rate, now that hit detection and shot registration are fixed, aim assist seems like its better than intended to be. |

oh yes iv heard all your PC vs Console arguments, in these forums, youtube and many other sites.
the fact remains, consoles are different from PCs and the games on each platform should not cater to those who are not playing the game in the intended platform, if you want to use your M/KB, go play a PC game, if you want to use a controller, go play a console game, simple as that, you cannot make a console game and expect it to act similarly to a PC game. that's like trying to eat ice-cream with a pair of tongs over an oven.
this game is not created for PC gamers, it was created for console gamers to get introduced to the eve universe through their side.
your just lucky that CCP let you use your accessories to play this game. |

And the point I was making is that Meeko's post claimed console players can't deal with complex games and need everything dumbed down for them. That's blatantly not true for a large enough portion of console gamers to support a series of more than 15 games with some of the most intricate stat-driven customisation in gaming. |

in that, I really don't give a **** whats dumbed down and whats not, its a game, im a gamer, I personally don't care which platform im on, if im on console, il use my controllers, if im on PC, il do what I can to adapt to the mouse, simple as that, im not going to try to use a controller on PC because PC isn't meant to be used with a controller, and consoles aren't meant to be sued with mouses.
in every FPS for consoles, there is aim assist, this game shouldn't be an exception because a few PC gamers are playing it.

SOCOM 1, 2 and 3 beg to differ.
Before someone argues the point that those were TPS's, they could also be played in first person. Either way, they didn't have and didn't need aim assist... because console gamers didn't suck back then.

There was no aim assist needed simply because there was no kb/m support. MAG didn't have any aim assist either. You can't really be that blind, if controller is an aimbot, then use it. You'll probably find out that maybe controller users are just better than you at using controllers. it's not that aim assist thing. You want competitive gameplay on a console? Perfect. If you really want "competition" just use a controller like anybody else. As I already stated in another thread , there are many games where if you use even a specifically-build mouse for ps3 (FragFx for example) you are considered a cheater and not allowed in official tournaments and events. I remember Metal Gear Online, for example. hundreds of players have been banned because of that. |

Your entire post works on the assumption that I am a mouser. I have only ever used a dualshock controller for shooters, even on PC. Did you ever stop to think that maybe I want skill to be rewarded to those who work for it instead of handed out to everyone like peewee soccer trophies? When everyone is special, no one is special.
If you honestly believe you need borderline-aimbot because someone on the other team might be using a keyboard and mouse, you've already lost to them. If your only way to cope with mousers is to have a computer do 85-90% of the work of aiming for you, maybe that's your fault and not theirs. I've never needed any manner of aim assist when using a DS2/3 on PC to play shooters to be competitive, I adjusted the sensitivity settings and got better at the game I was playing.
Instead of panicking about the "inferiority" of your controller against a kb/m, why don't you just play the damn game. If you're concentrating on who is using what input method instead of your aim, battlefield awareness and team coordination, it's no damn wonder the mousers are besting you, but it's not because they're not using a DS3, it's because they're actually focused on what matters: being better than the guy shooting at them.
Somewhere along the way, this generation of gamers forgot about that and instead decided everything needed to be handed to them for showing up. Which is exactly how we arrived at this "QQ AIM ASSIST ROCKS AND BESIDES IT'S NOT EVEN THAT NOTICEABLE!" juncture. |

You said that you want skills to be rewarded, then you might agree that we don't need two different kind of controllers if you really want to reward skills and not device. If so, you might even agree that this game doesn't need kb/m support at all, right? But then, capsuleers would rage, because, well, they might not be as good with a controller. The thing that balance things up is what you call "aimbot" (absolutely not true, that's why I suppose you even never tried it out). But what does this aimbot does in your opinion? Does it really act like Auto Aim? or is it just Aim Assist? Aimbot Aim Assist
Basically it "just" slows your sensitivity down when you're on target, but it doesn't mean that you'll actually hit the target. Moreover afaik it mostly works in cqc and only with certain weapons. Is it 90% of the work? Don't think so. You actually have to aim.
What I really mean is: what's the problem after all? Are you (not you personally) dying too much? Take cover ffs, you're not a freaking battlefield dancer. I used to do pretty well before Aim Assist (kdr 4.5), but I just didn't have any fun. |
