There are actually 2 variations, magnetism and adhesion, magnetism is related to strafing, normally when you strafe, your aim translates with you!! However people counter that by aiming in the other direction, this usally cause parralx where it hinges on a point between the two players! Magnetism means that that when you attempt to readjust, sensitive drops causing a drag like effect. Adhesion works when the player attempts to track a moving player, the sensitivity adjusts to reduce flicking back and forth over a target because you keep going to far!! It changes based on the speed of your target, this means when a target start sprinting the sensitivity adjusts to keep up, this makes it feel like you are being dragged, there are not headshot wander or behind wall tracking, stopping input stops aim assist as it is still dependent on your input!-á

With aim assist on, you still need to aim. It isn't autobot, you can still miss. If you're better than the average without aim assist, then you will still be better than the average with the assist and even more so. If you get pwned by an MLT, blame yourself, don't blame aim assist. Because you have aim assist as well and if he killed you then that may mean that you were missing him more than he was missing you.
Hit detection is better and maybe that's why it feels like aim assist is doing all of the work. We run around with 600hp, 700hp, 900ehp and still don't expect to die. Either way...we asked for the change and got it now asking for it back. I'm saying, man up..aim assist is hardly killing this game. So, a toxin owns you...aim better.

Aiming has improved i use ds3 and kbm depending on how i feel. I dont think its all aimbot the feel of the ds3 is now far smoother and is a lot easier to track than 1.3.
I tried with it turned off and on and i can say with aim assist its now as precise as using my kbm which is sweet.

The MLT got the kill but you were probably shot by another weapon as well

People are mad because everyone tanked ehp before, now their ehp isn't as effective.. Now that hit detection is fixed, people are dying easier, and they are blaming the AA. I agree that the AA shouldn't track like it does, but it should still snap to target when you ADS close to the enemy. |

This is how "aim assists" works in FPS games. Listen up cheeky monkeys.
AIM ASSISTS + GREAT FPS PLAYER = GREATER FPS PLAYER
AIM ASSISTS + FPS Noob = Decent FPS players.
All that = player retention.
Why do you think aim assists in the first place. Don't need it like yours truly? Do what I do... TURN IT OFF. My deaths and kills have not changed since this update.
Either I'm always this good. Or your giving your "skill" too much credit for previous hit detection and bad aiming issues.
Oh and one other thing. Hi ladies. I haven't forgotten about you, just been busy.

IT is not so much that aiming was broke, just a bit screwy in this last build and a disappointment since Chromosome. The thing that seems to be going on with this current build is that the tweaks to the aiming affected hit detection and the mutual distribution of damage data based upon ping, time of contact and the point of realizing that the damage is being done by the player receiving and delivering the damage. I also fear that there has be an unforeseen point of maladjustment in how this interacts with all of the current builds of the weapons we have available in comparison to what is popular.
I for one NEVER asked for the aim assist to be turned on. I Keep mine turned of for all the good it does me now. I am not a proponent of aim asset being used or available in a FPS.
I have gone from matches just before the new build of 12/3 maybe 14/3 to 2/5. It also seems just as we as a player base begin to hunker down and are familiarized by the available mechanics and performances, CCP throws a monkey wrench in the the program and general playability of the game.
It is frustrating to say the least since the hammer that they have been using to hammer out the kinks of this game seems to be a 20# sledge hammer, not even a blacksmiths maul or hammer. Every swing brings about results, don't get me wrong, but it seems the folks in China are having issues with the level of appropriateness in these perceived needful hammer swings.
You don't use a16-22 oz corrugated head framing hammer when you are doing interior finish framing. Wrong tool for the job, and it creates more problems then it actually solves, if not completely destroys what you had in the first place. That is if you are trying to improve the game, which usually understood as fine-tuning maintaining a semblance of what was ther before and originally conceived.
Still as before the go to weapons are the forge gun, sniper rifle (for all of those wankers still sitting in the red-line - and I had the impression that that particular issue was some how going to be coupled with the AFK Farming fix this build) the AR (Duvolles are especially nasty this round it seams) and MD. HURAH for VARIETY!!!! I will say it seems the shotgun got an unfortunate bit of back lash from the build or they would be included in the group. Makes me wonder about this "internal" Q/A that is supposed to be going on. But I guess this is what you get when you test a build on a close loop instead of an active test server with players in a multitude of locations around the world. OR DO THEY????
Anyways, I sit may hang out and let the passive cook for a few days until they get their ducks in a row. Right now it is an act in frustration. Too bad. It is a solid concept, just that it seems there are some issues of extreme difficulty in translating the concept into a working model that gives a sense of balance when we don't even have a marginally acceptable level of the racial varieties necessary to constitute an ingredient bas that is able to create a menu.

Aim assists are good for the game. It helps even new players to compete in matches more easily and will likely help with player retention. Aim assist will make bad players have mediocre aim, average players have good aim, and good players have great aim. But the great players will still only have great aim.
So the patch really helped to even the playing field. |

you do know aim assist only works at close range out to like 40 feet or something. so i think the problem is not the aim assist its the new hit detection more shots hit now more than ever. an to all the people out there saying its to strong i for a fact only see a small change an over half the time the aim assist seems like its not even working. i bet if ccp turned aim assist off right now you would still have the same problem. an the fact that strafing an jumping no longer works as well as it did people are dieing now more than ever. heres a tip get in a squad with good players use team work cover AN STOP ASKING THEM TO REMOVE AIM ASSIST AS ALL SHOOTERS HAVE AIM ASSIST ON CONSOLE GAMEING. the only way i an most of the people playing would be cool if it where removed is if you take kb mouse out of the game as well. |

MAG did not use it for a fact and just about everyone who played liked the way aiming felt. The problem with dust was a dumb acceleration curve that they tried to but could not iron out. |

I honestly have no problems with the aim assists at all (Before someone says something I don't use it) but I have to say that it needs to be toned down a little bit, it helps to connect the shots more frequently to the head than the chest area, if CCP can balance that then I bet that everyone will be happy.
The head is the main weakspot of all the dropsuits, connecting a lot of shots there will quickly destroy shields and amor no matter what kind of weapon you're using. |

Aim assist isn't an issue in dust game-play; also remember that people can also use KB+M to play and it helps a little with the precision gap. |
