Is it possible that you played this game without any aim assist for so long that you are used to zero aim assist, so that you just "feel" like aim assist is too strong (because you're not used to it)?
And to people saying there shouldn't be aim assist at all, in every single FPS/TPS there IS aim assist.
I asked a couple friends from BF3 and Uncharted 3 (got many friends there because I loved these 2 games) to try DUST today with the current Aim Assist and they found it ok. One of them actually liked the overall game and maybe he's gonna play it some more. Another one was upset because of the extremely long matchmaking times (lol), but I explained this is an issue. |

There's sense in that post op, but I have to say that the amount of times I'm getting headshotted is just too high. The accuracy of the berries had increased hugely, IMO it needs to be dialed back a tad. |

Aim assist should provide a reduced input when aiming near a target and maybe slight magnetism. It's completely ruined the FPS aspect because it's a "pick your target and hold trigger" type of aiming. The magnetism is way too strong, especially in CQC and short range encounters... |

Aim assist is for those who suck, and negates the skill of those who don't, this aa is to much because it reduces skill and put more emphasis on first shot and feels more arcade like, I mean forget turning ona flanker and managing to use skill like strafeing to get out of a death or if your a scout now forget about it...... Aim assist doesn't just help those that aren't as quick with pinpoint aiming. It helps everyone kill more efficiently. I don't see a problem in that since everyone benefits. It helps lesser accurate players become more competitive. More competition for the accurate players means they may die more. As others have condescendingly told to players they didn't agree with, "learn to adapt".
In theory, this could actually reduce pub stomping but it's too soon to tell. It sounds like the aim assist fix may have been a good thing. |

DUST is a console game.
So we console gamers shouldn't be playing a console game?
If you think true gamers play only PC games, maybe you should not be playing DUST, I don't know.
There are competitive tournaments for console games and there is aim assist there. I played and won Uncharted 3 competitive tournaments. |

simply false. good players are actually hindered by aim assist, and any competitive player worth their salt in this game has it off.

First in a "game like dust" your making it sound like it actually is better than any FPS game. Lost planet 3 is better than dust.
Second as someone who never had problems aiming, I don't really feel it, this game had issues with aiming a mile long. No it's wasn't cause we were ALL SO GOOD. We couldn't lick the boot straps off of the boots off the GODS of FPS. And many would tell you that aiming was off.
And last is PLAYER RETENTION. All fps is fun for a reason. and many have aim assists for a reason. But if I have to spell out why this game needs to start showing some traits that most fps shares it, all that will be left is just nerds who think they are great in fps.

The aim assist is definitely not OP. Personally I chose not to use aim assist when I have the option. I tested it out this morning just to see how it would be. It barely follows the clone you're aiming at for more than a meter or two in any direction, nor does it aim directly at their head, like many have been saying it does. Also the aim assist doesn't lock on to a target unless you're within a certain amount of distance.
All in all I enjoy the addition of aim assist into the game to help new players not rage quit after their first 'proto-stomping'. As for the players saying it is OP and should be removed, you are wrong. Go play other FPS games, such as Call of Duty or Battlefield, look at their ridiculous aim assist, which does in fact aim directly at someone's head, and does follow the player. If you can't survive with this _slight_ aim assist, in your proto suit stacked with complex mods, you're doing something wrong. |

Since CCP's aim assist in Dust has never been good and as of Uprising, has not been on, therefore, it didn't matter if the player was competitive or not, good or bad, whether aim assist was on or off. Because it was bad in the beginning and off in Uprising, no one can determine whether it would actually help or hurt a player, good or bad, competitive or not. Yes you are correct, it would be different if we had a good aim assist, and that's what CCP is trying to give us with 1.4.
Time will tell if CCP has aim assist working so we don't know yet how it will affect players. BUT, if aim assist is still bad then it doesn't help anyone. If it does work properly as other games have it, then it offers the same assistance for those both good and bad at aiming. |

I'm saying that they are different. All I was comparing was the aim assist. Saying that the aim assist in this game is much less than the aim assist in those games, thus making the aim assist in this game definitely not OP. I don't use aim assist in any game when given the option to turn it off, so personally it doesn't bother me at all whether its there or not. I just dislike all of the proto stompers now complaining that they cant sit in the middle of an open area with their stacked mods and survive because new players can actually aim at them. This game takes a lot of getting used to over any other FPS I've played, if CCP wants to implement things to help new players stay, then I am all for it. I prefer DUST over CoD or BF because DUST is a more in-depth game, not just a run and gun. |

Obviously it is understood that a 10v6 or 16v5 would not apply since the teams are not evenly numbered. My original post states that theoretically pub stomping could be reduced, not eliminated. That also does not mean that pub stomping will necessarily be affected at all, only that it could possibly be reduced. |
