okie doke.... as a general rule im usually pretty ho hum about the methods of death in dust .
snipers always getting creamed by those guys but meh it is a valid class so i just deal.
run me over 20 times in a match all is well.... but man theese fooking mass drivers are getting out of hand!!!
am i butthurt? umadbro? yes i am not ashamed to admit it..... when the majority of opposite team is using those things
the outcome of the matches always favor the md users ALWAYS . i used a mass driver once in beta they sucked so hardecore.
now i do not know the updates to massdrivers since and i also understand people invest lots of sp to use them effectively.
but man oh man what did they do to those things...... not everyone of course uses them but now moreso than ever.
i really am fine with most other ways of eating high speed dirt..... but you lock a match full of md users. game over
it's like having a can of SPAM with no fooking crackers..... if you get my meaning. save all of your retarted forrest gumpish comments.
you md guys will be the 1st ones naturally by default.
i will say it if others are scared...... and i do this hardly never.....
but i am sorry CCP mass drivers need to be looked at..... not saying they are OP.... but in the words of si robertson from duck dynasty.... something just aint right JACK!!!!!!

The blast radius on them is BROKEN. I had someone blow me up from full health and even though i went across a building to avoid it they were spamming hits on one area that displayed just how bloody far the blast goes... it's messed up. FYI, I spent a few minutes after i died figuring out where he was and how the heck he managed to get me once i figured it out and watched him spam an area trying to kill me again. The radius is wider then a tank! Yes, the radius, not diameter! Good luck avoiding that ****. |

Well yea the radius for a proto assault MD is 8.25. Which means the diameter is 16.5.....but according to the MD scrubs on the forums...its balanced perfectly because you know you cant be required to actually aim to hit someone.. |

why whats actually wrong with ACTUALLY?? You cant complain you came across a full team of them anymore than I can complain I came across a full team of AR's or ASCR's, just because a lot of people doesnt make it OP, infact it means its doing well because people are actually considering it over AR's!

This is what I have been saying....heck if nothing else remove the bonus increase you get with when skilling into MD and make it something else...like ability to carry additional rounds. So like 5% increase to max ammo carried per lvl.
Oh and Skihids.......6 ppl spamming proto assault MDs is not called teamwork or a "squad working together" its called 6 ppl who are using the current weapon that CCP has broken. |

THen they discovered there was a hit detection error and have since fixed that....the radius and ammo count was originally buffed because they didnt realize there was a hit detection error with explosives..so now it got the buff to make up for the detection issues and the detection issues have been mostly resolved (I say mostly because I find it hard to believe they are completely resolved when CCP is the dev). |

No they were also buffed at the same time as fixing hit detection cause they still felt it wasn't good enough, and the proficiency skill has been taken into account which is why the splash radius is 4.4 TV upped to 5.5 exactly with skill, coincidence I think not!! |

I am fine with them waiting for the new hit detection for weaponry other than explosives to be implemented before nerfs are done. But the point is that its needs to be watched. I wouldnt be surprised if CCP broke the normal hit detection even more in their process of making explosive hit detection work properly. |

I have some faith that CCP will use the data to balance the MD.
It's a situational weapon, and sometimes the situation really favors lots of MD's. I'm sure there are other situations where a squad of MD's would be a poor choice, such as attacking uphill. I wouldn't give that squad much of a chance to capture Objective A on Manus Peak. A couple AR's on the objective would mow them down before they got close.
MD's are the shark attacks of DUST. You may be mowed down time and time again by AR's and snipers and you shrug your shoulders and forget about it, but the one time you are pounded to next week by a bunch of MD's you remember it. |

As someone else mentioned, there's also the 5% per level blast radius increase from the skill, just in case you had a hard time hitting with that kind of radius.... |

Right so now your complaing about the assault variant, you are aware the assault does 75 damage a shot, 75 !! Who are you gonna kill with 75 dmg a shot?? Assults are used to mop up the weak, there supposed to be hard to avoid!
So if yiur gonna complain about the diameter I have to ask when you are thinking about the diameter, are you assuming that you can escape because you have move across the entire diameter, or are considering the tactical advantages such a wide diameter brings like crowd control? |

OK so I have to start off with a question. Does the damage for the blast radius apply equally at all points within the radius? Because I think it would be alright if it tapered off quickly as you move away from the impact point. This would make physical sense as well. If you think about the weapon, I assume the shrapnel does most of the damage. As you move further from the source, the mass of shrapnel over a given area (your mercs body) decreases exponentially. In other words, if you get hit by the blast radius at say 5m from the impact zone, it should do only a fraction of the blast radius damage. Or is this too complex for CCP? |

There not doing that yet, not sure why, but this could potentially make the problem worse, because you would have to buff overall damage and then people will realise how close the md shells have been hitting!! |

So instead of just crying for a nerf like a two year old, provide a figure, see what people say give reasons, both for and against! I mean have you ever considered the point of aoe weapon is to get you to RUN AWAY? You cant miss if your enemy is closer than 20m, but once again I must point out that this is the md ideal range, where its designed to be used. Not my intention to insult you but im a MD user since close beta, the MD was underpower sometimes true, in chrome MD haved good radius and good damage due to the fact other weapon haved the possibility to shoot 40% more far than now, so in uprising they nerfed the damage and splash for this, that was suppose to be fine but the gun haved hit detection issue they fixed it but they added splash radius in this same time, the splash buff was unnecessery because they fixed the hit detection, now they have to do a nerf on the radius to be fair
EDIT: hope they bring back the smoke effect that was a usefull tactic |

Heh heh im not saying it shouldn't but someone has to defend the weapon, besides im sure there are plenty of things that could be done with out an full blown nerf, such as larger feedback radius, even slower travel, proper fall off profile, etc etc.
Just so many people complaining with out giving proper argumemts gets on my nerves!!

ill step up and admit it friend... i dont know enough about the mass driver or it's current state to say what the radius needs to be changed to. i used it twice back in closed beta for about 20 minutes and have not touched it since.
what im saying is if my full team runs into say 2 or 3 md users spamming shots ....... we are doomed... there is basically no where to run....
look i understand the concept of how it is an area weapon... not precision. but also the farther your merc is from ground zero of the explosion... seems to me it should be less damage taken. and i do not think that to be the case..

so in turn i lol..... when 3 or more mercs are spamming md shots in your face... the whole team will drop like flies.

Honestly the first change should just be to remove the 25% bonus they get to the radius and see how that affects the balance. Make the bonus help the MD in other areas where its hurting...like increasing the max rounds carried. |

This is true, but I think there's still room to improve upon MDs/make the experience better with them.
What I don't understand is that they nerfed Thukker on-contact grenades to be just one carried at a time, because they were being too widely used, yet they keep the MD in the game that lets you spam on-contact grenades every second 6 times. Also, similar weapons that have tremendous AOE potential have spool-up time (FG/Plasma Cannon) or have ridiculous limitations (1 shot per barrel, slow moving projectile, long reload)(Plasma Cannon). Yet still, the MD allows for quick firing of 6 on-contact exploding grenades. These things have me scratching my head, and the plasma cannon could act as a counter if given the proper amount of buffs.
So, figure maybe the MD will lose some of its 1-per-second rate of fire, the amount of grenades in the clip (6), the fact that they explode on-contact (over bouncing or delay timer). It also might only explode when aiming ADS (why does its ADS sight have the exact same reticle as hip firing??) The MD could also be made into a heavy weapon, but that likely would disrupt too much of the skilling that has been done for it being a light weapon, so is unlikely to happen.

The ratio of getting killed by a MD vs killed by an AR is probably 10:1 in favor of the AR. The thing is, people generally don't complain about getting killed by the same weapon they use, and since most run around with AR's they don't realize that it kills them more frequently than any other weapon.

I have to use an MD because the hit detection is so bad with my AR or other weapons for 98 out of 100 matches my bullets don't register (even though I have AR 5 and sharpshooter 4), MD works as intended even with the laggy laggity lag lag.
