Problem with polish is that it actually grinds away at material leaving less and less over time. Eventually you have something smooth but much less than what you started with.
Also this statement is a bit ignorant but people responsible for new guns are generally not the same sort that fixes bugs, lag, and optimization. |

The only bug I've had consistently is HD. And 1.4 is supposed to fix that.
Obviously I'm made of horseshoes, since I've not had a bug since chrome. Only one time I spawned to the MCC I spawned in the MCC's model.
You want less fun stuff cause a multitude of rare bugs, exempt HD which I heard 1.4 is fixing, are causing you headaches? |

Also this statement is a bit ignorant but people responsible for new guns are generally not the same sort that fixes bugs, lag, and optimization. Let's assume the amount of playable content was tripled overnight.
How much would that change the metacritic score. My estimate is by approx. +10% but the final conclusion would still be 'Flawed/failed'.
Now run it the other way, assume that mechanics, lag compensation, controls, terrain, stability were made 'world-class AAA shooter' overnight.
How much would that change the metacritic score? My estimate is approx. +15% with a final conclusion of 'worth your time right now and holds great promise for the future'.
I agree that iterating simultaneously on both aspects, core and content, is important - but the core is more important right now. I have no opinion on how CCP should invest their development resources, but i do want to see the most critical and limiting issues resolved soonest.
Anything else is irrational, imo. Looking forward to 1.4. |

Now tripling the number of maps would have been something that would have been a slight boon on the reviewers at the time but overall first 5 minutes killed it for most reviewers. There needs to be a massive improvement to the first 5 minutes. Namely NPE. Too many guns? never heard that before. |

Exactly. While I am not discounting that we dont need new guns/content while we polish, that focusing on new guns without polish would be a bad move. Right now the most we can do with content is treat it like a varnish while we polish. |

More content is fun, bur no fixes aren't good either. And, all fixes are good, but no content isn't good either.

Sometimes I feel like I have the Lemon version of DUST, but these problems are very wide spread. I have found that when someone claims to not have the problems other people are having, hey either aren't playing long enough to spot them, or they are naive to what's occurring around them.
For example, when I started playing online shooters I would shoot someone from 2m away and none of my bullets would hit. I would just assumed I missed or that my bullets scattered to wide. I didn't think it was the game's fault of shotty hit detection.
I think a big thing that makes players realize problems more often these days is YouTube. So many people record their gameplays then watch it back again. This is how I can spot every little detail in games; good and bad. Sometimes I'll shoot at someone and not even get a hitmarker, and I'll flip out. But when I go watch the clip again I see that I actually missed by a hair, or if the game really did flub up.
It also works the other way, I know when I get kills on another player, a lot of times its the game mechanics flubbing up in MY favor. Which isn't fair. And shooters are supposed to be fair. Undeserved deaths are the greatest sin an online shooter can commit.
So, I couldn't tell you why you aren't experiencing any problems like so many others. Maybe you are lucky, maybe you aren't accustomed to FPS yet. As long as you are enjoying the game, then its fine. |

CCP have already shelved plans to add content in favour of fixing core mechanics, they aren't adding anything in the near future, they're fixing things. What more do you ask of them? To get rid of plans for content forever? |

@Vrain Matari
You're ignoring the last line in IWS's post. There are multiple teams working on multiple aspects of the game and each team is working at their own pace. You have one team that deals with maps, guns, avatars, graphics, etc. Then another team that deals with bugs, glitches, exploits, etc. Then another team that deals with handling the user interface. Then another for sound I guess.
Again, each one is working at their own pace. Of course, the team that deals with content will obvious be able to work much faster than the team that handles bugs, glitches, and exploits dealing with bugs and stuff is a very complex thing to try to resolve. No matter which bug or glitch you try to resolves, any solution you bring forward will invariably affect other parts of the game.
Let's say for example (this is a hypothetical scenario) the hit detection has finally been resolved for once in our lives. Now you have to deal with weapon balancing and possibly change the avatar movement/sprint/strafe speed because apparently the fix to hit detection made it too easy for anyone to get hit. Imagine me one day going 50-0 with just the knives and people with assault rifles going 60-0 and people with mass drivers getting as many as 26 kill-assists left and right in a single match. Suddenly almost half the weapons seem to be OP because of the hit detection.
Although I wouldn't mind going 50-0 with the nova knives one day. |

It wasn't so bad. Because now its not worth SP-ing into Shotguns, Swarms, or even Snipers. What's the point of having a certain weapon in the game if its below useful? It's just taking up memory...
What's the point of a game with dozens of weapons but only 2-3 are worth using? Everything needs to be OP, so that everything is worth using, otherwise its not worth having in the game. And basically the problem with all the weapons was the Sharpshooter Skill, because it lessen Bullet Disbursement AND increased Range Lethality. I think some of the weapons (such as Snipers and Shotguns) still need that as a branch in their skill tree. (As well as no stacking penalties in build if that weapon is equipped).

You're trolling, right? ....right?
There's a thing called power creep. Do you honestly believe that buffing items to "match" another item's power level is a good idea? With that logic we would eventually have assault rifles tht ARE shotguns, but you'd only need one bullet.
Made a new ar that's stronger than the others? Oh just buff everything else. Buff all workload vs. nerf 1 workload....
Please tell me you're trolling or that I seriously misunderstand. |

There needs to be a massive improvement to the first 5 minutes. Namely NPE.
I believe the only real way to improve NPE is to add PVE...look at EVE, sure you can go right for the PVP (and get owned) or you can do the few hours of PVE tutorials and then the SOE arc... by then you have a pretty good foundation as a new player to venture forth... Dust needs PVE for a good NPE. |
