New Game Network Dust514 Review
He has alot of valid points, one being the shoving of "Buy Aurum" in your face all the time, framerates, dull graphics and the connection to eve non existant.
He is very accurate, CCP please read and take notes, as this is the average reaction to this game. |

Just responding to your post not the actual review (why read it? i already play the game ) ... I've never found the AUR push to be intrusive. It's free to play not play to win so it's like... how they make money. Some people have an issue with companies making money...
... I however, am not a communist.

While all of that may be true, you have to remember he's rating an unfinished game.
Look up the game Big Rigs. It IS god awful, but that was its finished state and got the ratings it deserved. |

I think that the article raises a ton of interesting points that I think we tend to overlook in our tunnel vision that is the SP grind (graphics/eve connectivity/maps). But the author exaggerated the Aurum pushing a bit and also went out of his way to degrade a part of the game that I actually think is unique and fun to play around with(the fitting customizations). |

I am not denying anything that was said and I just want to make a random comment. I see so many people complain about framerate issues and lag but never once in my entire experience with DUST have I encountered a single issue with any of it. I understand some is related to programming etc but maybe people should upgrade from their satellite connections before blaming it all on the hardware |

that's a 45, not a 4.5.
more than that, it's some review of a guy who hasn't even played dust. sad, really. reviews have been bs since the '90s

I disagree with the Aurum part. However, if so many reviewers feel the game is P2W than something is wrong with the message CCP gives in game. I also disagree with the Drop Suit build complexity issue. Again, with that said I think it is something that CCP needs to work on better educating new players about as it seems to be a common complaint.
Other than those two things - I agree with most of the issues brought forward. |

Yeah some of the points the author brings up are spot on, but then again it also sounds like he's never played EVE before. He said that it is "fussy" (basically it annoys him) that he must purchase the skill books, then train the skill, and then must fit his dropsuit with the modules, weapons, and equipment that those skill points unlocked for him.
Either he has an insanely short attention span, or like I said, he's never played EVE in his life. |

People who don't put enough time in the product to realize that
1. All aurum items have ISK equivalents and 2. The best weapons in the game can't be bought with aurum (officer weapons)
only prove to me that they shouldn't be reviewing anything. Opinions void. |

Lol, yeah, it's BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD.
You can go -GêP mph backwards. The highest I've ever gone was Gëê -3 million MPH back in High School and that was during a 30 min computer class. You just hold the reverse button and the truck ends up flopping around, clipping through everything while gaining insane amounts of speed every second.
But at least it worked normal driving forward...sort of. |

In the world of game reviews, "released" means "finished.' Dust might be constantly worked on by CCP, but as far as anyone is concerned, it's a finished game. |

The major problem with this game is that it is not POSSIBLE to get a high review score by design, the game is designed to invest the player in the long term. This is a game where you would need 2 decent skirmish maps in order to skill into a early game skill and it exponentially increases from there. A reviewer simply does not have the time to invest into such a long term game. |

Most of that review is spot one... except for the author's silly statement that implies that the game is pay to win. Dust is not pay to win in any way and if there are any potential pay to win items those get reported to CCP to fix. After all, CCP made it clear over and over that this game will NOT be pay to win like you see in World of Tanks. |

Any game that requires 6 weeks to unlock a gun compared to just buying it instantly is P2W, the scale is waaay too far apart.
Any new player would be ******** to grind for 6 weeks for a gun when he could get it day 1 for a few cents.
The scale is too far apart. Not that aur equilivent guns are the same as isk varients, its the distance between them.
6 week grind or buy it now=P2W yall fanbois just dont get it. |

But if someone decides to buy Aur equipment it doesn't mean they have more skill than the person that played 6 weeks... The scale doesn't mean anything if they suck with the guns they paid for.
For example. Someone buys Aur sniper rifles and suits to sit back and OHK people that are taking the long way to whatever equipment they want. Unless they buy an Aur heavy suit they can still be OHK by a MLT sniper rifle if they're bad at sniping.
Therefore not P2W. |

Frankly, this gentleman was pretty forgiving. And even one of his comments below his article alludes ot the fact he is giving it the benefit of the doubt due to cCPs track record with eve even as he is rating it on its own merits. And he then goes to say he will review it again in the future as he has no doubt CCP will keep at it until it's better.
but it's current state? it's a 3.0.
A poster above me mentioned how the article had good points about tunnel vision on the failings of dust. Well, not everyone has tunnel vision. just look at all the AFK. |

6 week grind or buy it now=P2W yall fanbois just dont get it. 6 weeks to unlock a gun? Let's see, all guns are a 2x skill meaning roughly 620,000 Skill Points to reach Level 5. One week without any boosters would be 168,000 passive skill points + 190,400 active skill points = 358,400 skill points. So Actually it would take LESS THAN 2 weeks to get whatever gun you want. Now if you want to get the Aurum equivalent of the top gun you need what, level 4 in operations? So that's 310,000 SP, or a bit less than a week of playing?
So when you say "Play for 6 weeks or pay and have it instantly" you really mean "Play for 2 weeks or pay to have it in 1 week," right? |
