Let's assume for the moment that we finally got an open market that allows you to at least trade any item (salvage, aurum, or ISK based) to another player for ISK. Right now you have 33 units of the Gaston forge guns that you got from salvage and you are wondering what method is used to estimate the selling price of this item for ISK. How would go about estimating the value of each gastun?
Would you base it off of how many matches it took for you to acquire just one of them?
Would you base it off of supply and demand?
Or would you just shoot in the dark and smooth talk your way into getting someone to needlessly spend tens of millions of ISK per item? |

I would pay around 1-1.2 million a pop for a balac's... I'm sure that will be a pretty close price for most officer weapons? |

I would pay 500K for a Thale and I have the money to buy a lot of them. So when you are ready to sale them I will take them off your hands. |

I would trade my Thale's and Cala's (and other officer weapons that are useless to me) to corp/alliance players for officer weapons I wanted.
Not all will go at a 1:1 ratio as I know the demand for Balac's and Gaston's will be pretty high. That being said, I've accrued a lot of items to trade  |

Yeah 500k-1mil for officer weapons.
Balac's are an exception. They're a massive improvement on a Duvolle. Perhaps 1.5mil. |

I'll buy thales all day for a million. IMHO, they will end up costing a lot more than that. look at faction stuff in EVE. sometimes it's 100mil. |

Whatever "merchant" types seek to control the market will have a massive influence on the pricing of officer weapons. There are some players/corps out there with A LOT of ISK in their pockets. These players will be capable of purchasing every officer weapon available and inflating the price for resale, and that's what they're going to do. These items seem to be quite rare, so there's going to be a minimum that people think they're worth, and a maximum people with TONS of ISK are willing to pay.
You aren't going to be buying these if you aren't loaded.
Assuming we will be capable of selling AUR gear on the market, this will create a standard AUR to ISK conversion ratio for Dust (in other words a $ to ISK ratio). As evidenced by EVE and various other games, players will jump at the chance to essentially purchase ISK using cash in order to stock up on expensive officer weapons. These guys will have all the officer weapons, they will also ultimately determine how much $ or ISK an officer weapon is likely to cost.
Commence to QQ when Dust truly becomes pay-to-win. |

Thales are going to go much higher than 1 million ISK a pop.
I have so much ISK and I'd love the pour some out on officer weapons, but sadly the only officer Amarr weapon is Wolfman's Scrambler Pistol which I don't really need considering the scrambler pistols on the market are already beastly. Would kill for some officer laser rifles or scrambler rifles though. |

Where might I purchase these Standard BPOs you speak of?
You may consider them to be worthless, but if someone is running around in MLT gear, they're likely doing it to save ISK. If that MLT fitting costs them 0 ISK no matter how many they use, some people see value in that. You don't, and that's fine, but people will buy them. |

After reading this thread, I decided to finally whip out one of my Balac's Gar-21 Assault Rifles and see just how good it is. Wow. That thing is a beast! It's too bad I only have 16 of them  I played an entire skirmish match with it and managed to escape without losing one, thankfully.
Anticipating the need to have lots of ISK stockpiled to buy these things once the Player Market arrives may be something that finally gets me to stop using Proto-gear in every match. That said, I don't have much faith that we will have the market anytime in 2013, so meh.
Who's got a ton of these things saved up? Anyone have 100+ of them? I feel like I always get screwed on the officer weapon salvage drops. I seem to get them much less frequently than a lot of other people  |
