It was a good read +1
I very much agree with you, it can get boring playing solo just for the sp grind especially if either team are redlining the other team quickly. My Dust moments are when playing with others using mics and having close matches that each team are fighting hard to win until the end. |

Sounds like you got the CCP special. This is what the game is about, finding a role that you are good at and enjoy. Everything else is meh. I have been playing logi since the start of closed beta and I really enjoy the job. I enjoy rushing in to save a fat man or supplying my assault mercs, I enjoy knowing that I saved some dude a suit and helped my team keep fighting. People treat this game like any other fps and it should be treated like the game it is, a game for building reputations and friends. DUST is a slow burn game and if we don't ease ourselves in and play for fun then we are the ones who get burnt. Enjoy your game, play it like you want and don't let the little stuff burn you out.
Nice post, I like seeing posts that are positive. We need more threads about this game by people who are not doom and glooming or just trying to troll. |

Specialization is the key to having fun in this game. Finding your role is step one, consider your endgame.
BTW once you get that Proto-repper expect lots of new friends. |

My Dust is "hard mode", ie. scout suits.
I love zipping around at high speeds, outmaneuvering and outflanking the enemy, all the while being very aware that if I let anyone rest their sights on me for more than a fraction of a second, I'm dead as a doorknob.
I love engaging lone enemies or small groups, get their shields down with my fluxes and scrambler rifle, run around the corner to disappear, sprint around the building or whatever and take out their armor right before their shield starts regenerating.
I love seeing a heavy come up a staircase that I'm at the top of. That gives me the opportunity for one of my favourite moves: drop a nicely timed flux at the top of the stairs that blows up in his face, jump over the railing to land behind him in the staircase and blast his armor away from behind.
I love sneaking deep into enemy territory and placing an uplink that turns the match around. |

But I tell ya, there's nothing like getting a 12 pack of beer and forming up with some cool ppl on a Friday night whipping butt. Have fun!!!!!!!!! |

I think this list gets too long...you face the problem of 'where do you stop' with the variations, or you end up with 30 starter suits. You're point is excellent, but I think a better practical solution would be to make militia versions of everything available (why is there no militia HMG, for example?), and get a list along these lines, but no more than 5 or 6 fits, that sample as wide a variety of playstyles as possible. We need a militia logi suit (at least 2 equipment slots) again for one thing, and as you say, at least one light and one heavy. |

Since Uprising came out, I decided to stray away from the Logibro/Laser Rifle build and try out the scout. I've always found it to be generally fun (I die a lot more, but I make up for it with a few more kills), but it wasn't until a few matches ago that it really clicked for me.
Surprisingly, I was at the top of the kill-board, and so was this other minnie scout. I saw him come running down the side of one map, and tried to poke him with a few long range shotgun blasts (the idea being that most players will immediately turn around and run right at me, helping me to close the distance). Rather than turn around and engage, this guy took off running. And I gave chase. I think I chased this guy over the entire map. He would occasionally turn, and we would exchange submachine gun fire. He'd turn, and just run away.
Then I realized he was heading right back to a group of his own teammates, and I knew that I had to catch this guy before he could reach them. You see, he led me right into an ambush. I hopped around, and caught one assault with my shotty, before getting put down by the heavy that was guarding a choke point.
This game changes when one doesn't treat it like other FPS. The mechanics haven't been built up enough for it to compete with other FPS. My favorite part about Dust is the customization, the occasional (and hopefully more in the future) incredible teamwork, the chats in which a dropship pilot is treating it like a real mission, "Alright squad, we are about to be over the drop zone. Alright, GREEN LIGHT GREEN LIGHT TAKE BACK CHARLIE," and the hope for a brighter (albeit dustier) future.

This is 7 starter fits, compared to 4...not that much extra. |

My Dust is very similar - I don't know what it is exactly, but I love the fact I spend my time running away from firefights; I giggle every time I have to do a 180 hoping that squad didn't see me. Probably because I know I can zip in out of cover and keep those guys occupied a long time, often long enough to draw them to a line of blues - it must be like trying to swat a fly. I get to be the guy who ambushes a squad who think they got their line secure - that moment you blast a heavy or a sniper who is completely oblivious to you...it all comes together.
Though really, it's all about the uplinks... |

I love seeing more and more people adopting the role, and it's especially gratifying to catch one of my teammates with a sliver of armor and bring him back up to full health.
And I really have to stress--in fact, I can't stress it enough--DUST IS SO MUCH BETTER PLAYING IN TEAMS. When you join a random public match, go to the "TEAM" tab in your chat boxes and SQUAD UP. Even if you're the shy type, you'll be working with a team: you'll be in a better coordinated squad, you'll earn more War Points per time and you'll get more ORBITAL STRIKES, since your squad will be stronger with more people getting WPs. You'll make more isk, and perhaps like I did, you'll find a good corp to join and experience Dust together.

I found my role with the FG. Blasting LAVs to stop roadkill, keeping HAVs in check, destroying Dropships trying to deploy rooftop DUs... giving some measure of security to my team against all of these.
Even when vehicles are not an active presence it's a fine tool for suppression and providing support fire. Establishing a threatened area gives more of a safe zone for allies. Taking the time for aggressive flanking can also cause great discord to an enemy's defence of an area, too. It's like a sniper rifle except everyone immediately notices it which can actually be an advantage. Immediately splitting their focus is useful.
Though admittedly I did originally go AV to fight the biggest, meanest opponents available, the juggernauts that can turn the tide of a match. It's a bit like signing up to wrestle bears and getting a job throwing baby pandas out of an aeroplane. |

Yes Vespasian Andendare you found it. The amazing part about this game being its direct battle roles. Also you found what is called the sandbox effect by ccp. One action can change everything in a timeline. Thank you Vespasian Andendare. |
