if you were to separate the driver seat from the main cannon, there wouldn't be any reason to spec into driving the thing at all, you don't get any rewards from the driver seat if you don't get to use the cannon to kill thus making the driver part...

the pilot suit should increase all the vehicle stats by different mounts depending on what the specialization of the pilot suit is, I would imagine that there would be pilot suits for air vehicles and ground vehicles, but that's not the case.
