Why? I agree the double injection thing is ridiculous but why reduce the time it takes? Injectors are reasonably quick and the point value makes sense - often the downed person is in an open field of fire, making reviving them terribly risky.

This has been asked, but it was months ago... And it is still a good idea. 5 SP seems appropriate, and it would encourage the team you play with to not leave their flanks constantly open to enemy spawners; it amazes me how often this happens.
