Your character is saved server side, your settings are on your PS3. The only thing you will lose is your settings which is happening to you anyway.

You need more than a few days to gauge how the new settings work(at least a few weeks IMO). As for scouts I have had great success using a scout as a hit and run hacker(generally 800-1200 WP).

People are already complaining about choppiness, increasing the demands on the system aren't going to help that(fixing how the game loads would but I have my doubts that it will be changed any time soon).

Looking at the reviews I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole. You don't need to use a SATA1 drive as SATA2 and SATA3 are backwards compatible(I have a SATA3 SSD in my PS3). Newegg has several SSDs of the same size for a few dollars cheape...
