I think the confusion is that they posted two extended downtime notices on the 24th. For the 25th and 26th both. With time/day differences that can get a a bit muddled depending where you are.

The freebies look identical to the expensive ones. That's half the problem right there. Granted there would still be thefts, but I imagine there would be fewer if people could identify a freebie throwaway from a 300k-500k buffed.
