I got 2 kills with a standard flaylock in the same battle. I combine it with an assault combat rifle on a scout; because the combat rifle goes through ammo so quickly, the pistol is a good finisher. 130% armor damage doesn't hurt, either.

Are you talking assault or normal? On normal, they're all pretty decent choices. It's impossible to aim perfectly with assault, so the splash of missiles is the only way to go. Artillery will probably have a splash, so the trend won't keep up.
