I like the idea- there should also be a module similar to a remote repair tool that instead can transfer ammo to other vehicles. This is the only way I can think of that would prevent fighters from being severely crippled.

No. The redzone is there for a reason- it isn't meant to be exploited. As the game progresses, you'll see the redzone moving further and further back, anyhow, as districts grow and the safe-zone is removed.
