I think they will keep Ambush and skirmish, since it's player proven and fun. They will add a conquest mode (I think null sec ...), and for the drones it will be kind of a survival mode.

A Crazy way to change it ? I would make DUST 514 a RTSMMO game ... Not sure how RTS in the MCC will work ... but it's nothing like what I have in mind. Thousands of troops, resources, control of moons and planets... secret atomics cache in the far...
