ok, so right now we are playing these modes where a win or loss doesn't really mean anything. i know more modes are to come, but what happens to these modes upon release?
do they only become contract only modes and the only non-contract option is the merc contracts where we face NPCs? if this is the case (since all corp battles right now are for no sp or personal isk (i know the winning corp gets the purse)), is the only way to get sp and personal isk after release the merc contract option? i really don't want to waste tons of time fighting robots. i play this game (and MAG R.I.P.) for the P vs P experience. if i want to fight NPCs i would get COD .
do they stay "as is" as an option to play for isk and sp without having contract ties? if this is the case, isn't it possible that many noobs will just run these matches for their fun instead of the battles that really matter?
hope this makes sense. thanks. |

I think they will keep Ambush and skirmish, since it's player proven and fun. They will add a conquest mode (I think null sec ...), and for the drones it will be kind of a survival mode. |

i agree. i will use MAG as an example here. you know how suppression doesn't matter? but if you play domo, acquo, sabo, etc. and those count towards winning contracts that boost certain things like exp and cooldown rates? I believe a similar concept will apply to DUST, as he said they will have a conquest mode and many others which will count towards the bigger picture. while keeping the ones we currently have as DUSTs form of suppression. |

hell yea, a survival mode with 24-30 other people all working together to stop an NPC onslaught? I'd buy a game just for that mode. |

I'm guessing the PS3 couldn't handle really large scale stuff like 30 people against swarms of enemies.
Anyway, you'll always have Instant Battles. They'll never take away the ability for people to log on, press a button, and get whisked away to a competitive multiplayer match. The player-issued contracts will no doubt be a small percentage of the overall PvP stuff going on, and most players will never get involved in that aspect of the game. Joining a corp, fighting really competitively, showing up for scheduled matches... you can't expect that would seriously be what they expect most players to be willing to commit to. |

Just a quick question: how many people are playing solely for the FPS portion? (battlefinder, and the current way the game works) |

you would be surprised CoD fans do it all the time with that ELITE or w/e, MAG players would do things like this (scheduled themselves of course, i know my clan did so on several occasions) so its not as far a stretch as you might think. besides in DUST if it has what they say it will in the future ther is so much more to it than just money, SP and being on the top of the leaderboards. Planets will be at stake literally and i am willing to bet people are and will be willing to fight for it them. As long as the reward is big enough players will fight over it in droves as many times as they possibly can. |

i personally am intrigued by the real warfare concept. fighting for something that actually has an effect on something else. the FPS is great, but that's why i started with MAG in the first place. i was tired of just fighting NPCs all the time for nothing. even the COD 9 v 9 matches (or whatever the size) really meant nothing to me, so i never bought them. killing 13 year olds is fun only for a little bit. kill steaks and capture the flag as well. i need more substance. MAG was the start. it had real pride. Dust however takes it to a whole other level. i personally can't wait to attack and defend planets where the outcome matters (at least in EVE ). |

Also yes the ps3 could handle something like that, look at what MAG accomplished not that you would know anything about it with that kind of remark. 256 player matches, if that's not big enough for you thats your problem, consoles are getting more and more powerful every generation. |
