It is normal but it is not supposed to happen. There are invisible forge blasts as well. The swarms do not usually go through the wall but sometimes will go past it and turn around to hit you.

I was really underwhelmed when I realized the proto repair/ammo hive only refills ammo/health faster but has the same number of nanite clusters as the step down. I figured it would also be given a bigger capacity.
