a lot of the times, the ones using the small turrets are just shooting everything for no ******* reason, which is just giving your position away.

Problem is that some gunners are total retards.
Was in a match yesterday and the tank driver was yelling at the gunners to gtfo his tank because they were just randomly firing off shots at nothing in particular and giving his position away (there was no enemies nearby to shoot at, he was just waiting to ambush).
Been there done that in PS2, gunner jumps in to tank turret. AA gun there - he is popping off at every enemy infantry in sight. Enemy aircraft comes along, complete silence until the full rocket pod gets unloaded into the back of my tank. Next day, vulcan (anti-armour) gun in turret mount. Gunner is blasting away at infantry. Enemy tank turns up and is attacking at high speed, gunner does SFA with specialised Vulcan armour buster and we both die. No wonder most tankers lock their vehicles so morons can't get into the turrets |

HEY WE'RE OVER HERE, BRING ALL OF YOU AV! I know right, I play battlefield 3 a lot and idk how many times the stupid turret guy is shooting at nothing, the only reason why I shoot is for the rocket launcher to see what type it is |

I know a lot of the time when I'm shooting "randomly" it's because the tank driver is out for a Sunday evening drive and I'm trying to indicate to them where the enemies are at.
I can't stand hopping in a tank's gunner seat and they decide to just play it safe the whole match. It's almost as bad as the ones who sit there out in the open getting pounded on by AV, or who decide to "retreat" from that AV at a snails pace.
Here's an education for tank drivers.
How to drive an HAV:
1. When your shields and armor at at full, go out and seek enemies so you can kill them, or at least park the HAV somewhere that is vital to your team. 2. When you see enemies, get to a good position, and stop moving. Turrets are far more accurate while you are stationary. 3. If you are getting hit by AV you have two options: ----1. Kill it. This is a great option if you have some good anti-infantry guns such as blasters and AV is somewhere you can easily hit it. ----2. Run from it. Turn around, put the tank into full gear, and sprint toward the nearest obstacle large enough to conceal a tank. Get your health back up and then return to step one.
PS. Stay out of AV-nade range of large groups of infantry if you notice the enemy actually using AV nades. |

What works for me most of the time is i drive of as soon as i'm in or i drive to the mcc and wait till they get out, only problem with waiting is you loose potential kills. so half the time its not worth it. besides if they want to die along with me then be my guest. |

Not a tank driver but as a squad leader I can tell you stationary tanks are ob bait. Also it gives people the chance to come up beind your camera drop a nano hive and av the crap out of you. If you go blazing into the enemy and more than one has av nades you no longer have a tank. So drive them, learn more about them, or shut up bebore you try to school tank drivers on how to tank. |

Reasons why I hate 70% of my gunners "Helping me."
- They are AFK at random moments.
- They give away my position by shooting at random things like rocks or the enemy MCC a kilometer away.
- They make it where I can't see what I'm doing, especially with small missile turrets, by sometimes randomly shooting in front of me if they are "bored."
- They won't get out of my tank when I need to recall it, and I can sit in my tank and put down my controller, walk away, come back two minutes later and they are still there.
- They will sit in my turret while I'm sniping and immobile, instead of going to an objective as they want to farm "assist" points instead of actually helping the team.
- They have terrible target prioritization when I'm actually in combat.

Tharak Meuridiar wrote:Terrible HAV advice
Let me get this straight, not only do you want me to be stationary, but you also want me to TURN my tank around and expose my engine block instead of backing up? Additionally, assume that every infantryman has protonades, always.
I do like though that you do shoot at targets if the HAV pilot is oblivious. |
