I like the idea of range based damage on AV, so that people actually have to decide where they want to defend against vehicles instead of the current (yet somewhat underused) tactic of "stand anywhere on the map and no vehicles may join the match....

You can't really argue that giving the SMALL machine gun enough range to beat a HEAVY machine gun is a good idea... The reason would be balance, which is more important than being more like CoD.
