Yeah, some people have good luck with them, some don't. I always find that they don't detonate when I need them most though, just like grenades. They're quite good when they do work though.

Funny that you say he was sniping with it. You know why that isn't viable? Because they have VERY limited ammo, and the fact that you have to use a heavy means no nanohives. They get a few kills, then have to go scavenge ammo or die.
