Can anybody tell the difference after you upgrade your drop suit weapon or vehicle? It seem like you have the same stuff. If I get the reload proficiency to the highest level the I should notice a faster reload of my weapons but it still seems to be slow reloading. Along with rate of fire, armor, shields too. Maybe it's just me but there should be some kind of a difference. |

There is a clear difference to me. Electronics 5=clear difference Engineering 5=clear difference Mechanics 5=clear difference Just about everything except the upgrade that increases shield regeneration shows a difference. Of course, the differences aren't huge, like if you are using a scout suit, then don't expect a huge increase in armor for getting Mechanics 5, because they are based in percentages.

I will say that my heavy lasts much longer with all of that extra armor on it from the skill. |

Weapon reload speed is one of those skills you don't bother to move past 2, possibly 3 points, unless it's for Heavy Weapons and you tend to go rolling around in a Heavy suit with Miniguns or the like. You still have that period approximately 2 seconds where you are easy meat. Generally you just get better at timing your reloads or remembering to do it immediately after dropping a lone foe or when moving between cover.
Electronics and Engineering are VERY important as it allows you to cram more stuff onto your suit. I loveses me a Logi with nanohive, injectors, and repair gun, for instance. Building a better everything generally requires them.
Many of the 'upgrade' skills (with upgrade in the name) are fairly garbage except that you need them to fit a more powerful module of some sort as a prerequisite. Some, though, can be quite handy (if you're a Sniper, Light Weapon Upgrades is GOOD at higher levels as it gives you quite a discount on the 70+ CP reqs of those high tier Sniper Rifles, for instance), but in most cases they are just 'filler' to get to the items you want.
Your best option is to plot out what you're trying to build for, find the skills you need to do it, and then level them in a way where you focus on the most benefits possible at the time. |
