I've found that slowing down and aiming a bit more deliberately than you generally would in a more "run n gun" situation helps A LOT. Treat aiming at mid range with an AR the same way you treat aiming with a sniper rifle.

There's an option for inverting "VERTICAL LOOK" and one for "VERTICAL FLIGHT", I have both set to "INVERTED" but my look in a LAV is still not inverted.
