The biggest contributor to how bad the gameplay feels in dust is the turn speed. As far as I know, they have reduced overall turn speed so that KBM and DS users were on equal footing. However, the inability to turn around at a decent rate is maddening.
I think the standard for turn speed should be the ability to do a 180 during a jump on flat ground. Also, every suit type should have a different turn speed. Assualt and logis should be able to do a 180, scout should be able to do a little more than a 180, and heavies should be able to do a little less than a 180.
This is important because it will speed up gunfights and make them much more interesting. |

I haven't had a problem with it myself, I use DS.
I feel it's a welcome change personally, it's a different pace than the previous shooters I've played where it felt more like twitch shooters than anything. Like MAG, being able to bunny hop over and over again, just made the gameplay lame where any time people took damage they would just hop over to cover while the terrible hit detection would make them tank a lot of bullets. People being able to turn around in half a second made it so a lot of people hardly had to think about things from a tactical perspective, because you could just do a 180 on command and slash someone open with your samurai sword (lol thnk god they patched that, even tho the game is basically dead now huh?).
Suits having different turn speed doesn't seem like a bad idea to me though. |

I agree to a certain extent. I still think that the benefits of making the turn speed quicker ( increase in dynamic gameplay and fluidity) outweigh any benefits of slower movement.
DUST can be just as tactical with faster turn speed. |

Turning speed is just too slow right now,and needs a tweak.
Like I say for almost every other ability that people suggest, make it a skill that you have to earn.Problem solved. |

I ran myself up in a situation where I have no cover from behind and I expect to do a 180 and kill him? Should always have someone covering you. Turnspeed are for solo-wolfs, this isn't lolCoD. |

But that would never happen to you right? You use tactics. |

Well, I've been flanked from behind many times in this beta so far and haven't really had a problem turning around and fighting back. Sure, it's not like I can turn around instantly, but I can do it. Or sprint to nearby cover, then turn around and prepare, or retreat to another another and take cover to get the advantage. You do have your options.
Being aware and sticking with the team is probably your best bet and what you should do in most cases anyway. Since simply seeing an enemy spots them for a few seconds when you're with a big group enemies shouldn't be flanking you very easily. Just need to keep a watch out and expect flanks.
I check my 6 fairly often, sometimes nets me free kills because the guys following you don't expect it. Go around a corner, turn, go back expecting an enemy.. always expect an enemy, regardless of if you know they're following you or not, it helps I find. |

I use KB/M and icthink the mouse turn speed is perfect because u should onlyvbe using the mouse to aim and shoot. The major turning u r doing should be done with the keyboard. Also I thunk the turn speed feels far more real than in other shooters where jumping turning and shooting all at the same time is expected. The slower turn rate decreases bunny hopping and I like that.
Different turn speeds for suit types I like also |

Before you say anything about turning speed make sure yours it turned up to max, i've changed mine and it made a world of difference.
Secondly, when you say "decent turning speed" do you mean a decent speed for a kb/m or for the ds? the two are very different things, and being a ps3 title dust is going to have the turning speed for kb/m limited to the speed of the ds, otherwise you are giving them an unfair advantage. |

I like the "slow" turn speeds. It makes the game more oriented to slower gun fights with more cover. Most importantly it equalizes the difference in reflex speeds of different users. I have bad reflexes and i like being able to occasionally flank someone who would normally stomp me into the ground with their highly unrealistic contortionist ballerina moves that seem to ignore completely any laws of physics. |

I have to agree with the title of this thread. Feeling the turn speed is too slow at times, but even worse is when I am closing at a sprint to take out an enemy, zoom in to fire and the game craps out, stutters to a halt and then picks back up a few seconds later.
I could live with the slower turn speeds, but wish there were a way to kick them up a notch.
Cannot live with the game clunking to a halt everytime I go to shoot at someone... |

Yea, I'm hoping that the lag will be fixed soon. I've gotten screwed over many times because of lag spikes. They happen in every game, but they happen way too much in DUST |

This is the main reason I use scout (not because of the messed hit detection). With my Dragonfly and x-, y-sensitivity turn to zero I get the turn and aim speed I'm used to in most FPS and TPS. Still needs to be tweaked though. |

What I would like to see is guns doing a bit more damage, but I don't know if the more advanced versions of guns are more powerful or not, or if increasing my skills will make it easier. Other than that the turn speed is fine for me. I just don't like how clunky it is to ADS and keep your cross hairs on an enemy. I will be aiming at an enemy right in front of me with my bullets clearly hitting him but still having to stop to reload and or switch to my pistol to finish enemies off is kind of ridiculous. Especially if the gun im using is a heavy machine gun/ Chaingun. If im putting that many rounds down range I shouldn't have to wait for my gun to cool down or reload in order to kill one enemy. Especially when he is just going to turn around and kill me faster because he has a more expensive gun. |

Yea, you hit on a couple other problems CCP will have to fix. Hit detection is better than it was, but is still pretty bad.
Increasing the weaponry skill as well as your specific (heavy weapons) skill will greatly increase your damage.

The problem with nerfing everything is that you remove any and all excitement from the game. Fast movement speed wouldn't exactly turn this into a twitch shooter since it still takes entire clips to take someone out. When you see someone on the battlefield you realize you can't hit 'em from more than 20 feet away, so now you're trying to get to him at 0.2 miles an hour after which you have to blast him for another 15 minutes, just to get his shields down. I'm obviously exaggerating but you get the point. I like tactical gameplay, but tactical is not the same as slow and dull. |

If you don't like your turn speed use a lighter suit.
Its a major part of the balance. If a heavy could turn 180 degrees in half a second there would be little reason not to use them. The movement speed alone doesn't balance it in a gun fight.

The turn speeds are bad...there's just a point where its so slow its unrealistic....This game is so far at that mark
I'm not saying every suit should be able to do a jump 180 but...for god's sake has anyone here HELD a gun before? it doesnt turn you into a lumbering beast...
The turn speed reminds me of battlefield 2142 (did anyone play that?) Where there was an anti-tank turret that turned so slow it was hardly used. It was just unbareable.
Sensitivity NEEDS to be atleast a little bit higher

The game can still be balanced with increase turn speed for all classes. The scout turn speed will be buffed as well, so it's not like by increasing everyone's turn speed the balance will be screwed up. |
