The ion pistol can't hit the broad side of a barn at point blank. It has TAR level hipfire spread. Magsec is excellent. I like it a lot, though time will tell if it's 'OP'.

CR. Funnily enough it does comparable DPS to a shotgun right now, except at a much longer range and higher RoF. After 1.8 it'll be worse, but still very good.
