I'd kind of like to see an AV heavy laser. Good at tearing through a vehicle's shields, but not as good against it's armor. You could discourage it's use against infantry by giving it a charge-up time before the laser fires.

Adding delay to the firing of a close range weapon is a good way to make it useless. The problem with the HMG is its range. Nerf that.
