Don't worry there is also the giant HMG and the super MCC as well. The super MCC didn't just fill the sky it was the sky. The regular MCC's could have fit into the drop bay of the super MCC.

Bring in a standard sniper, give him/her squad lead so he can select the attack order after spotting the thale. Change back to assault etc and pass back the squad lead and when you have the WP drop an OB on him. Alternatives are after the target ...

When you invest SP into other weapons the risk of getting hit by the nerf bat is too high. The AR is the safe bet and the best fall back weapon until you do get into a position of having spare SP to invest.
